1/2 Gal. Brown Mulch Color Covering up to 6400 sq. ft.

I LOVE this product! at 71 years of age, I don't have the energy to rake up and dispose of the old mulch then spread new mulch around, a process that takes several days. With Colorbac I just mix it with water in the sprayer and spray the mulch. I'm finished in a couple of hours and my yard looks spectacular!

This is a good product to make your mulch good new again. Instead of replacing your mulch each season, color it. You mix it with water so can cover 6400 sq ft. Spray it on with a pump sprayer. I liked that it covers everything in the mulch like all the leaves so the color is all consistent again without having to clean all the junk out. You do have to be careful mixing it because it is like a stain. I got it on my hands. It washed off with soap and water but got under my nails. Best to use gloves. I also got some on my legs and shoes. It can also stain rocks, landscape or siding so you have to be careful where you spray. Again, it can wash off with water if you do that quickly. Says it won't harm plants. I like the concept of making the mulch in my yard look fresh again but the ratings are more because of the mess it can create on things you don't have to stain.

I am in love with this stuff. My mulch was in great shape but all faded out so I used this and it looks like I just laid it. I'm pretty impressed. It can be a little messy so you want to wear old clothes. It's easy to mix. 4 oz. to a gallon of water. I only needed to use half the bottle to cover 8 yards of mulch, which is the amount I originally laid. It's been rained on a couple of times and hasn't lost any color yet. Time will tell how long it will last. The only drawback is that the bottle states you have to use it all within 5 days of opening or it will dry up or harden. Since I used exactly half of the bottle I filled it up the rest of the way with water hoping that that will prevent it from hardening. If that works then next time I use it I'll have to add 8 oz. of the mixture to a gallon of water to get the same strength.

Very impressed. This is a very concentrated product, so be careful handling it. However, any spills in my laundry tub rinsed away right away. A little bit goes a long ways. For this test I picked an area of about an 8 foot diameter. I mixed two ounces of product to half a gallon of water. It was just the perfect amount for what I was doing. The product is very easy to apply, but as I said, it is very concentrated so cover anything you don't want colored (sidewalks, driveway, edging etc). The first application covered very well, but I had plenty left to go over the area and hit sparse areas so the entire area was completely covered. I'd recommend you have an area to clean the sprayer. It will take multiple fills and running clean water through the wand. That said, the sprayer cleaned up very easily (with a garden hose). I haven't had it down long enough to see how the color lasts or how it handles rain. The color is a very dark chocolate brown. I'm very happy with it so far and will treat my front beds (after I monitor this small test area for a while).

This mulch colorant is a dark brown and will match well to the dark brown hardwood mulch that you can buy at The Home Depot but it is more than a bit dark for pine straw and I don't see a lighter alternative from the company. It also is a bit messy to measure out and mix so be sure to work over some paper, or better yet, plastic so that you don't get it on your garage floor or sidewalk. It can be washed away relatively easily when it is still fresh but might still leave a bit of a stain. It would be nice if the maker would come up with a way to measure out enough for a 2 gallon mix more easily since most people will probably be using a garden sprayer (2 gallon?) to spread this material. All in all, it does the job of darkening mulch as advertised with the minor issue of measuring out a few ounces at a time. I look forward to the company possibly coming up with a color that is better for pine straw. FYI, the sprayer I used for application features 3 nozzle settings to help keep colorant on mulch and off plants and concrete (HD Store SKU#1002116006 ).

This is a simple easy to use product that will restore life and color to your yard. Every year I go and buy my garden mulch in bulk from a local commercial greenhouse. They have a great product, with one exception. About halfway thru the season I usually end up picking up another yard or two of mulch just to freshen it up and give it a nice look. With this product all I had to do was mix up a batch in my hand held outdoor sprayer take it outside, pump it up and spray.... This stuff restores color amazingly... I sprayed the top of the mulch, stirred it up with a 3 tine rake,Sprayed it again, then stirred it up again. The mulch looks darker and better than when I originally put it down. When your spraying carry a piece of cardboard with you for an edge guide and to keep overspray off house, rocks, Etc.... For the price I think its extremely worthwhile as you can now skip a year putting down mulch by just giving it a touch up spray. You could also change the color completely if you don't like what you put down. I also tried spraying it right on the dirt and as you can see in pics below it looks much better....I have had rain two times and snow once since I sprayed this stuff and it hasnt faded at all....
