Answer:
The main active ingredient is good for roaches or ants, will be better if you use a similar product with the same active ingredient and have an ant bait.
This one is a bait for roaches pretty much.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Use 5/8" to 3/4" inch.... correcting typo from earlier post.... This would be the, "old man," part. September 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Use Best use for my purposes for a tube gel: I cut a small square of index card stock/poster stock, 5/8" to 3/8". Put a small squirt in the middle. Place in corners of cabinets, wherever I think they may be needed. It is not necessary at all to lay long lines. To apply directly to surfaces is a mess. Why would anyone want to do that? Oh yeah. You are advised to. You can make a simple bait that gets the job done just as well and is a lot cleaner. Laying lines uses up a lot more than is necessary. And you have to buy More Of It. Direct application to home surfaces makes a mess of things. The point is to have something enticing that is poisonous to the critters. The bait method I detailed works like a champ. It is all that is needed. I also lay down a cypermethrin perimeter spray. I DO NOT put the baits down where I have sprayed. They are put in places I haven't. The only roaches that come in do so right before a rain. That would be American Cockroaches, the very large brown ones, that live in the ground by the oaks and find their way in because they know it is going to storm and they are going to get flooded. When I see these rain runners they are either already dead or on their backs dying. And I also know for sure that we are about to get a good rain soaking. These roaches don't live in the house. No more house German cockroaches. At all. The place was infested when we bought it. Now you know how to get the most out of a tube gel without the mess. And how to keep your home roach-free (perimeter spray as needed). I know when it is time to spray again when I see a live rain runner roach.... one that is not dead or dying. The spray is effective for anything between 1 and 3 years. I have a container of cypermethrin powder because I spray outside annually with a battery operated large container sprayer hooked into a riding lawn mower. Just put some powder in an inside use pump sprayer and have at it. Conversely one could buy packets of Demon. Same stuff. One packet per gallon of water. Packets dissolve in the sprayer water. Just thought to share tips and technique, some of which info was generously provided by a pro. September 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by how to use this stuff Save your beer bottle caps! Squirt a bit into the bottle cap and place near sink and other places you have seen those large Florida cockroaches. Near the sink and in drawers are good places. I places 13 bottles caps with this poison in various places. You will be appalled to see it get eaten and disappear on their major pathways. In some places the poison was not eaten much. I guess I saw a roach there but it was not one of their favorite spots. This stuff kills them!! Refrigerate the tube so it lasts longer. By using bottle caps you are creating your own roach motels where they check in but don't check out...and a lot cheaper. I suppose you can use the caps off of soda bottles too. June 30, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by it did not work in my case I have read all the reviews and I am impress with the results you guys had, but I put the gel in different spots in my kitchen since I start to notice roaches and I have not found one dead, so I have to kill them manually everytime I see them. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great product All pest were gone in about 3 days. It took care of everthing and i have not seen any bugs in weeks. August 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outdoor Application I put this out for two nights in a row. Most was eaten each night. On the third night, hardly any was eaten, but I didn't see any roaches either. Since I have dogs and it is toxic, I applied after last bathroom break for the night and wiped up what remained the morning after with a wet psper towel. June 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by No more roaches Just the other day, I was speaking with the pest control man who was back again to spray my apartment. I asked him what was good to kill these roaches? He mentioned this Combat Gel at Home Depot. Let me say, "No more roaches". It has been three days, and we haven't seen a roach. I do recommend this product for killing roaches. May 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works! I made this purchase after finding roach droppings in my cupboards with my food. I figured they must be coming in through the back where there were gaps. I lined the perimeter of my cupboards with this, and it has stopped the roaches. It looks a little gross, but it beats the alternative. April 16, 2016
