Answer:
the compression stroke wear compensating device is located conveniently above the squeeze trigger. I would find it hard to come up with a good reason to buy a replacement part for it (after how many thousands of use hours) and pay the shipping when for $50 you get the whole device. The ordering time and shipping would cost more than a new unit. Bite the bullet after 20 years and buy a new one.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by saves the hands I was working with tumbled stone and I didn't want the grouting to get into the tiny holes and cracks so I used this to just do the grout lines worked pretty well. May 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by My new chinking (caulk) gun I have many outbuildings and several buildings so somewhere I lost my chinking gun with only the bathroom to finish (I live in a 119 year old log house so it need a little sprucing up). I bought a cheap replacement at Home Depot to finish the job. To my amazement this cheap gun (less than 1/3 the cost of my "good" gun USED) was 3 times the tool. Everything about it was a major step up. Ease of use, clean up, loading, everything. If I ever find my "good old tool" it is going on the garage sale pile. March 27, 2016
