Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Jimbo Cabled 12' Black LED Landscape 12 Volt Lighting Kit
Unlike the old wired 12 volt landscape lighting systems or even the rope type this LED lighting system seems very complex but still easy to apply to older 12 volt systems such as I have done with little difficulty. The LED strips are very bright and can be adjusted if desired by adding a dimmer on/off switch which was included in this package.
The kit also can be added to additional strips by simply adding more kits sold separately of course.I am happy with the product and may at a later time add additional kits.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by dcline Oddly Bundled Kit
I ordered this kit before I realized that my current light setup was maxing out my 12v power supply. If you have an all-in-one kit or only purchased a large enough power supply for the lights you already have installed, you'll find yourself in a bind.
I first took the power supply and connected it directly to the CabLED light setup to test. The lights looked great, and were much brighter than I expected. The dimmer switch remembers your last brightness setting, which is nice, and the lights fade out when turned off. So far so good.
I then removed some of the lights in my current setup so I'd have the wattage to spare (15w). This required me to remove four 4w lights. I also discovered that the cable is quite flimsy, so requires a significant number of anchors, or you can use the mounting channel, which I did.
While I was still installing, I decided that it would be easiest to add a separate power supply, which the manufacturer indicates is available at Home Depot. After ordering the black 15w CabLED power supply, I realized that it is 24v, not 12v as is required for this light strip. So the 12v power supply must not be available to order yet.
When I finally completed installation, I plugged in the power supply. Every light flashed a couple of times and the went out. I figure that I must have connected a wire backwards, so I quickly took the spliced connections apart and reassembled everything, ensuring that nothing was reversed. I plugged the power back in... nothing.
The connectors are polarized, but if you have to cut off the connectors (like the very long ac/dc converter), make SURE that the wires aren't reversed when you connect them! Apparently I fried my entire kit, and nothing I do seems to improve the situation.
Overall, the kit has a lot of connectors that most likely won't be exactly what you need. Odds are that you will have a lot of extra parts and have to shell out a bit for basic things (like the mounting channeling) that isn't included.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Duke Replacement dimmer available from OptiLED, no charge
Be aware the dimmer that comes with this Landscape Lighting Strip Kit reverts back to the brightest setting whenever the power is turned off and back on, such as with a timer or photoelectric cell. Same is true of the dimmer sold as a separate piece, 309-P192SM-A0-A1. OptiLED (CabLED’s parent company?) has a replacement in the works, due out near the end of 2014. OptiLED will send you a replacement if you have your receipt. Contact OptiLED at email@example.com to have your name put on the waiting list. If Customer Service gives you the Royal Run-Around, try firstname.lastname@example.org.
I recommend using the PVC channeling for installation, rather than double-stick tape. It makes a neat, easy installation. Search Home Depot site for CAB-PVCCH3BHD and 270-CABLED-A0-A1. The black PVC channeling is available in-store (at least, in my local Home Depot). The white channeling is apparently only available online.
A nice feature is that the LED strip can be cut to almost any length in 3.5 inch increments.
Minor complaint: the dimmers are close to the LED strip connection, which makes it difficult to put the dimmers in a location convenient to adjust, or in a hidden location. My application was on a deck, so I was able to put the dimmers under the deck. Other applications would probably be more difficult, even impossible.
Be sure you pay attention to the polarization indicators (a circle on one side, rectangle on the other) on the connectors.
I didn’t use the connectors or jumpers, so I can’t speak for them.
Otherwise, we are very happy with this product. Lights can be used without the dimmer, but they are VERY bright.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by LakeLover Nice quality but challenging to install for outdoor use
I have a stone retaining wall with integrated stairs which I wanted to down-light. I attached the CabLED light strip with outdoor grade double stick tape. The lights look sleek and did a great job of lighting the wall and stairs. The issue I have reflects some of the other reviews on this site. You can only have 12' of lights on one dimmer and the dimmer connects within about 6" of the lights so there's no way to hide the dimmer. Furthermore, the dimmer resets back to max brightness if the power turns on/off. My lights are connected to a Malibu low voltage supply that turns on/off at dusk/dawn. Therefore the lights will not stay set at the level you set. My current plan to resolve this issue is to source a DC power supply with a dimmer that doesn't reset when the power cycles on/off. Bottom line, I'm satisfied with the lights but not the overall solution.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by MarilynB LOVE THESE LIGHTS, BUT NOT THE INSTRUCTIONS !
After reading the instructions several times, I finally set this up as a simple strip temporarily on a trellis to test it. It is not really difficult to install if you are familiar with this type of lighting. This is just a starter kit, so be aware that there is no power pack, mounting channels, ground stakes, or low-voltage connector to attach to your existing wiring.
I wired the cord directly to one of my current power packs. It wasn't made clear how many watts are necessary for this light strip, so I hooked up to a nearly empty pack. I didn't dare cut anything to customize the layout because I wasn't sure if all the parts needed are included in this package. Then I added the AC/DC adapter, followed by the dimmer which connects to the light strip. I used "Component Layout 1" as shown in the photo.
It works great and I love the resulting effect. The 12 ft. strip of lighting consists of 120 LED lights. When I install it permanently, though, I will look for the PVC channels to hold the strip in place (The rope I used to test it looks terrible and does not stay in place - you can see in the photo that the lights didn't stay straight across the top).
My power pack is set up for dusk to dawn operation. I dimmed the lights with the dimmer, but when they came back on, they were reset to full power. This is no big deal for me because I like the brighter lights, so I will omit the dimmer later.
I really do enjoy the lights, but I think they are on the expensive side for what you get.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by sacherjj Decent System, but not complete
The product indicates that it requires a separate power supply. it is intended to integrate in with existing low voltage AC lighting.
It is brighter than I expected and brightness is easily adjusted with the included controller.
The LED strands are sectioned into a number that are powered by the full voltage. You can cut the lines at the indicated marks and these sections are powered in parallel with each other. You either leave them parallel in the existing strip, or use wire to separate lighted sections with wire.
We decided to use these are under cabinet lighting, instead of outdoor lighting. I used good quality foamed double stick and attached under the front edge of the cabinets. The result looks great.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by workathome Seems nice at first, but important information is missing.
This is NOT a starter kit! You need a power adapter. The write-up on HD's site mentions several times that you need 12 volts, buts does not tell you that it must be AC!. 5 levels of brightness is nice, but the the trade-off is that it pulses in a very obvious manner to accomplish it.
Installation instructions were not entirely clear to me, but that could just be me.
The kit does not come with any sort of mounting hardware. Almost everything is extra.
My Kill-a-watt measures it at 10 watts at the brightest setting.
I checked the "I would recommend this product" button, because it is a good product overall, but for the price, and it attempting to be a premium product, I think it really should be more polished and include more of the basic needs.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by wildcat great product and easy to install
I am writing this review because of the other less than positive reviews. I have used this product in my house and on my boat and have not had any problems at all. The dimmers have all worked great ,however, they will only work if installed one way so pay attention to pictures because it doesn't explain this. Although the connectors that come with it are nice and convenient, you can also use wire nuts and any low voltage wire to extend dimmer or add additional lights. I love these lights and will use them in the future.
