Customer Questions & Answers

Does it need a separate top coat/sealant?

Asked by: kathy
No. Acrylics/enamels provide their own sealant in the paint itself and the sheen. If you want something that repels water or dirt the most, you should go with a high gloss that can be wiped off.

can I use this to prep/prime laminate cabinets prior to painting cabinets with a custom tinted enamel?

I have kitchen cabinets with laminate cabinet case and oak drawer fronts and door fronts. I am looking for a product that will adhere to the laminate components as a primer and then paint over with a custom tinted satin enamel paint.
Asked by: ms
You COULD use this to prime, but I'm not sure why you would. I would suggest priming with something like BullsEye or Killz that are engineered to fill and hide and provide a quality base for finish coats such as this.

Will this work for cabinets in a mobile home?

I'm not sure what kind of cabinets they are, we just bought the house and want to make everything look better without spending money on all new cabinets, have to wait a while for that. The home is a mobile home double wide.

1 qt. White Satin Trim and Cabinet Enamel is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 54.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome This paint is awesome. It goes on like silk. Dries fast and the finish is beautiful. The cabinets we refinished were in horrible shape. This paint brought them back to life. Only complaint is that Home Depot doesn't carry it in the store. You have to order it online. It delayed my job a week. Please start selling it in your stores so I will use it again

The finish was quite uniform after application with a foam brush and foam roller. Color is bright white and has a sheen to it. Will use it next inside the cabinetry before I am brave enough to do the doors. Will probably use some type of high gloss over this to get the desired look for the front of the cabinets. Overall I am very pleased considering the price. The only downside for me was not wearing a mask because the odor wasn't that strong and had open windows. Will wear a mask next application. This product not available in store, ordered online.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A little goes a long way I bought a quart to paint our bathroom vanity and wall cabinet. I used a foam roller, which left a speckled texture on the surface, but it doesn't look bad. I have 1/2 a can of paint leftover after putting 3 coats on each piece. This worked great for updating our bathroom without replacing the vanity, and it wipes clean without the paint coming off. Definitely recommend for a cheaper way to revamp your cabinets. (Vanity is pressed wood, cabinet is some type of plastic material, no issues with paint sticking. The only prep work we did was cleaning the surface with a degreaser. No sanding or priming)

It evens out when it dries giving a nice uniform sheen without brush or roller strokes. I'm glad I bought two cans of it and cannot wait to use it on my next project. In the future I anticipate painting my kitchen cabinets and will consider using this product. It's that good.

Much better on the 1st coat than expected, probably didn't need the 2nd coat but since I had plenty left I put it on anyway. Using a good brush it almost looks like it was sprayed on. Will definitely use it again if the job comes up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kitchen looks new again I bought a foreclosed home not too long ago. The company that had rehabbed the house had painted the cabinets dark brown. The paint they used scuffed even if you touched the drawer or the cabinet. I researched a lot of paints and this one seemed to have the best reviews. I ordered two gallons. I had to do three coats since the original paint was so dark. Paint covers well and levels beautifully. It dried fairly fast, I was painting the cabinet doors in my garage on one of the muggiest days of the year, so that probably didn't help either. Three coats on 26 cabinet doors, 7 drawers and other visible parts of the cabinet took only one gallon. I actually returned the other gallon back to home depot. The kitchen looks much vibrant and cabinets look much more presentable. My boss is about to paint his kitchen cabinets and after seeing my cabinets, he is talking about buying this same paint. Would definitely highly recommend to anybody.
