Hello DP,
Thank you for the question. As a manufacturer, we very much appreciate any inquiry you may have! The Cadet electric baseboard heaters are strictly permanent mount units, and are not a portable or plug-in type unit. They install by screwing into the wood studs in the wall behind the heater. They are then 'hard wired' with a 240 volt electrical supply wire connected to the heater at either end.

For a permanent installation you will also need a thermostat to control the unit, and those related products are listed below. Thanks again for your question!

Answer:
I'm not sure the current draw for the 3' units but a 20 amp (#12-2 with ground) 220volt circuit will handle 3000 watts, that's two 6' units. Honeywell makes thermostats for electric baseboard heat that are reasonably priced and easy to install. Cadet has thermostats that cam mount right on the heater. I like the wall mounted Honeywell units best. They can be ordered from Home Depot, Lowe's, Amazon, etc.

Hello and thank you for asking such a great question!
If your heater is a 120 volt model, the amperage for the Cadet electric baseboard is 6.25 amps. If your heater is a 240 volt model, the amperage for the unit is 3.13 amps.

With either a 120 volt or a 240 volt 3' baseboard, you can use a 15 amp breaker, and the size of the wire must match the breaker. For a 15 amp breaker, the gauge of the wire should be 14/2 with ground. The breaker for a 240 volt unit will be a double pole, and for a 120 volt unit it will be a single pole. We've included an installation video that details different wiring scenarios with thermostats, and a few related thermostat items.
We sincerely appreciate your interest and inquiries. Good luck with your project.

Answer:
I've used line voltage electric baseboard heater thermostats made by Honeywell. They are electronic, allow for very even heat by reducing the current to maintain the room temporature once the desired setting is achieved. They make both manual and programable units.

Hi Jr,
Thanks for asking! Sorry Cadet doesn't have a baseboard mount thermostat that is rated for 30 amps, but we do have one that is rated for 25 amps. The Cadet baseboard thermostat model BTF2A is a double pole, mechanical switch that is rated for 25 amps maximum at 240 volts. You can see the thermostat below as a related product to your question.

It seems like a nice looking product with a strong construction and good finish. It did arrive with a small dent in the back of the top. I recall reading that another person had a similar experience. One presumes that it happened during shipping. It seems that better packing materials or shipping instructions would be a good idea.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Don't hesitate to replace old electric baseboard units I was very pleased with my decision to replace my old and ratty looking baseboards. The appearance upgrade to the room is well worth the cost. Unfortunately, two of the four units I installed had dents from the factory that I did not notice until I had removed my old units, by which time I was committed to complete the job. Now I will have to switch those two units out when I receive the replacements. So, the lesson learned is completely unpack and closely inspect everything you buy, whether by mail or in store, well before you plan to use the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent purchase The installation instructions are very precise and easy to follow. It took this 67 year old female, without any wiring experience, no more than an hour to install. Heaters are very quiet.
