Customer Questions & Answers

how many amp draw is the 4F1000w

Asked by: Anonymous
4.17 Amps, specifically (usually rounded to 4.2 Amps). Pretty much all 240V electric baseboard heaters use 2.1 Amps for every 2-feet of heating element contained in them (keep in mind that the very small units under 3-feet in length do not usually have OVERALL lengths that correspond with the HEATING ELEMENT length--a 30-inch unit is usually 24-inches of heating element and a 24-inch unit is usually 18-inches of heating element). There are 2 amperage ratings on 240 Volt electric baseboard heaters. There's the momentary "inrush" amperage (higher when you first turn on the unit ("fire it up") and then there's the more constant, lower amperage rating once it gets "up and running." The 4.2 Amp rating is the INRUSH (very brief) usage...the constant running amperage is about 3.6 (the "running" amperage, after the HIGHER initial inrush amperage, drops 0.3 Amps for every 2-feet of heating element).

Does this model come with a knob to turn heater on as the one I currently have?

I need something simple to install. The home I purchased has 2 of these heaters and both have a knob on the left front to turn heaters on and off.

On this item your telling me that it has chord that plugs into the outlet. You, tell how to hardwire it into the electrical system so I am confus

Thank you for the question, we very much appreciate any inquiry you may have! The Cadet electric baseboard heaters are strictly permanent mount units, and are not a portable or plug-in type unit. They install by screwing into the wood studs in the wall behind the heater. They are then 'hard wired' with a 240 volt electrical supply wire connected to the heater at either end. If you refer to page 3 of the attached instructions, it details how the connections are made inside the junction box: http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/7e/7ed24a24-7ecd-4fbd-aec6-5bc30ccb0f9e.pdf For a permanent installation you will also need a thermostat to control the unit.

Does this baseboard heater take any electric skills or additional parts to hook it up? Does it just plug into an outlet, with a cord attached to it?

Asked by: Anonymous
This unit is designed to be hardwired. Most anything can be modified to function differently but if you want a plug in heater, there are plenty of them to choose from.

can you wire these in series

connect two together or a 96" be the better way
Asked by: J24J48T20
I think you can locate two units end to end and the bypass wire will allow each unit to get 220 volts. But if you wired them individually in the usual sense of "series" each unit would only get 110 volts and this would not work. Check the instructions in the box or find them posted on-line.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product ! Sturdy, great finish, durable & quality made. I love this heater. I bought another brand that I hate. It rusted so fast & the metal was so thin that it dented just looking at it. I HIGHLY RECOMEND THIS HEATER !!! You can beat the powder coat finish. It looks good & very easy to keep clean.
