Thank you for your question.
Yes, this can be installed into the existing hole, but you will need an adapter plate to do so.
The SAMW is the adapter plate that will work with the Com-Pak Plus heater.

Hello reis1617,
Many thanks for the question! While the Cadet Com-Pak Plus will work in your garage on a 120 volt circuit, it is really not enough wattage to heat up a space that is probably around 400 square feet. An average 2-car garage is generally around 20' x 20' square.
We recommend a larger wattage heater--one that 's made for a garage or shop area like the models we've incuded below as related

We recommend a larger wattage heater--one that 's made for a garage or shop area like the models we've incuded below as related items. Each is a 240 volt plug-in unit, and would be adequate to heat a larger area like a garage or shop.
It never hurts to ask, and as a manufacturer we sincerely appreciate you taking the time to ask your question!

Hi and thanks so much for asking! The answer is yes to both questions. For the high/low switch, the unit comes equipped with a built-in thermostat. The temperature range is 40 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit, and the thermostat controls the amount of time the unit is operating to reach your desired temperature. If the knob is turned counterclockwise to its lowest position, the thermostat will keep your room Read More
Hi and thanks so much for asking! The answer is yes to both questions. For the high/low switch, the unit comes equipped with a built-in thermostat. The temperature range is 40 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit, and the thermostat controls the amount of time the unit is operating to reach your desired temperature. If the knob is turned counterclockwise to its lowest position, the thermostat will keep your room within about 5 degrees of the 40 degree low setting. And the Com-Pak Plus style heaters are made to install into a 2x4 stud wall. We've included a link to an installation video that walks you through the installation. This particular model mounts to one side of the stud cavity. Thanks again for asking! Read Less

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.0 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice heater good quality I purchased this heater for my bathroom. Works great. Could not be happier. It has a programmable thermostat that you need to set when you install it. So, the temperature needs to be set how hot you want it when you will turn it on. My contractor says that it has an automatic sensor to go off when it will get hot so it will not be on constantly like an automatic shut off. It is not too noisy too. Blows warm air just like a good heater should do. July 22, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Hardly puts out any heat. Design and appearance are fine but it produces very little heat. At first I was pleased with how quiet it is until I realized that's because it hardly has any power. It's almost like a toy. April 26, 2012
