For a single pole thermostat, the best way to ensure your heater is off is to disconnect power to the heater circuit at the main disconnect panel. You can install a double pole wall thermostat with this heater to override this thermostat if desired. Double pole thermostats have a true “off” position”. Read Less

Answer:
The Cadet Com-Pak Plus series comes with a single pole thermostat which turns the heater off at your desired comfort setting. If you are looking for a true positive off, then we suggest purchasing an optional double pole built-in thermostat kit or a double pole wall mounted thermostat. We have provided links below to double pole thermostats.

Answer:
I do not believe this heater has a high/low switch just the rotary thermostat. It can be mounted in a 2x4 wall with minimum 1/2" drywall or other wall surface but it would be much better in 2x6 wall or a frame built around it to provide an air gap behind the box. When installed in a 2x4 wall, the heater box tends to vibrate the wall surface behind it, making it sound noisy.

The temperature range is 40 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit, and the thermostat controls the amount of time the unit is operating to reach your desired temperature. If the knob is turned counterclockwise to its lowest position, the thermostat will keep your room within about 5 degrees of the 40 degree low setting.
And the Com-Pak Plus style heaters are made to install into a 2x4 stud wall. We've included a link to an installation video that walks you through the installation. This particular model mounts to one side of the stud cavity.

Answer:
Hello Arthur! This heater has a built in thermostat with a temperature range of 40-85 degrees. It will cycle around the temperature setting you set it for. We would not recommend running heater on highest temperature for multiple days at a time.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 13 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great electric room heater My Cadet heaters have been in service over 6 months and work well. The installation (new construction) was straight forward. They are relatively quiet and the thermostats work fine. There is no off switch and the lowest thermostat setting keeps the room about 40 degrees F. May 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product, as advertised and heats well! This is the second Cadet heater product that I have installed. It is a great value as well as easy to install. product came with a built in thermostat so wiring was a breeze. I am using this product to heat a bedroom and it fits right into the scheme of the room, small, compact and heats up right away. I am still working on the room and it is already suppling heat to keep us toasty as we finish the job. I purchased the 220 volt version as the cost will be cheaper than the 110 version. Highly recommend this product and the Home Depot web site. March 8, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This is a good heater. I am a property manager and I install these in my rentals. They are reliable and long lasting. They heat up a room faster than a baseboard, and take up less space. February 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Rental replacement fit right in Rental property where the unit was probably abused and died. Purchased another Com-Pak and slipped right into existing housing (Com-Pak) which was good after 8 years the spec's didn't change and changeover was done quickly. January 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works well in rentals I have an older rental property and these were an easy upgrade. The tenants can control the units that they want on and in some two bedroom units, they tend to only heat the bedroom that is in use. I believe that they have about a three to five year lifespan unless you go in and clean them out at the very least, once a year. If you are looking at a single or multiple heating unit for your own home, look at the radiant type heating units. They tend to deliver a more uniform heat but are more costly and more costly to install. December 23, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Works fine but needs option to blank out thermostat This heater is easy to install and works fine but does not have the optional plug to remove the thermostat to allow the unit to be controlled by an independent wall thermostat. Since it is not provided in the standard packaging, the plug should be made available separately. I used this unit to replace a failed baseboard heater that already had a wall-mounted t-stat. I purchased the heater and a new Cadet digital t-stat to allow for better temperature control and wanted to avoid the duplicate control at the unit. January 1, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by replacement for recalled version The heater works great. My only complaint is that it is about 5" shorter than our previous model which was recalled. We had a hole in the wall under the new heater, which resulted in having to redo our bathroom walls. Not the heaters fault. Just the company making a newer, smaller version. April 1, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exactly what I wanted I needed a wall heater to replace the one in a bathroom. The heater had to fit the exact space already cut into the ceramic tile. The Cadet heater is the one recommended by my electrician. Because the particular model was not carried in stock at my hometown Home Depot, I ordered it on-line. In a few days, Voila! There it was, sitting on my porch, waiting to be installed. Thanks, Home Depot ON-line. November 17, 2006
