Questions & Answers

Does the timer shut off the unit completely or just the high heat forced air?

Asked by: ANG
The thermostat and the timer are two separate controls that run in parallel. In other words, either of them will turn the heater on, one by turning the thermostat up which will run the heater until the set temperature is reached then shut off until it cools down again, then on again, and so on. The timer overrides the thermostat and turns the heater on until the timer's time is up, then it reverts back to the thermostat control. And the fan and heating element always turn on and off together. They never run separately.

Can it be easily set to run without the timer?

For example, could it be set to maintain a temp of 50+°F 24/7 without having to set the timer every hour?
Asked by: Nathaniel
Yes. The thermostat will turn it on and off automatically to maintain the set temperature. The timer can override the thermostat by turning it on constantly until the timer times out.

does it have a thermostat disabled (no heat) position

Cadet Com-Pak Bath 10 in. x 12-5/8 in. 1,300-Watt 240-Volt In-Wall Fan-Forced Heater with Timer White - does it have the improved thermostat disabled (no heat) position like the 1000-watt version?
Asked by: dp
Sort of. You can turn the thermostat all the way down but I don't think it completely disconnects the unit. If the temperature were cold enough, I suppose it could still come on. I would guess that it would have to be very, very cold for that. I put mine on a wall switch so I can leave the thermostat set and make sure the unit is off with the wall switch.

Com-Pak Bath 1,300-Watt 240-Volt In-Wall Fan-Forced Heater with Timer in White is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 8.

Looks very sleek and modern compared to the old baseboard heater that I removed. I like the ability to minimally heat the room via the thermostat and yet crank it up for a few minutes using the timer without having to adjust the thermostat setting.

They heat up the bathrooms very quickly, including a very large master bathroom. Because of the flexibility of choosing what wattage element you want to use, they can be sized just right for each room, large or small. The smaller bathrooms are wired for 500 or 800 watts, and the master for 1,300 watts. I really like that it has a built-in thermostat and an override timer that puts out heat until it times out, regardless of the thermostat setting. So you can leave the thermostat set at one temperature and give the room a blast of heat with the timer. I am about to purchase another one for my (yet) unfinished basement bath because I like them so much. And they look great, too. I don't like the looks of most wall heaters, but I really like these. They fit in with modern and old-fashioned house styles. The reviewer that said the fan was weak was absolutely wrong. I have had experience with many wall heaters and portable space heaters, and these put out plenty of heat and fan circulation if your bathroom doesn't have a constant breeze blowing through it, in which case no heater would be adequate. I highly recommend them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful and Quiet!!! We purchased the Cadet Com-Pak wall heater for an addition we built on our house for my 98 year old mother. Being that mom is hard of hearing, it gives us great comfort knowing she will not have to 'remember' to turn if off... the timer does it for her. The unit does a wonderful job of delivering a soft warmth to her 14" long bath. Oft times this winter mom has turned it on merely to 'cozy things up'! BTW.... our electrician said it was a breeze to install. I think anyone would be pleased with this wall heater.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor Air Circulation, Weak Fan Motor I purchased this heater online because they are not stocked in stores to view much less test. The builder had it installed by the electrician but the air circulation is so poor due to the extremely weak fan motor that unless you hold your hand within 8" of the heater, you don't even feel the heat. I doubt this unit will come close to doing the job we expected it to do even in our mild winters in South Carolina. It might be OK in a half-bath or small walk-in closet, but do not expect it to heat anything larger than that. A hair dryer puts out more heat and air volume than this unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product Purchased this heater for a little extra heat in bath room on cold winter nites in Wisconsin. Not only do me and my wife enjoy it but our cat would like to lay in front of it all the time if he could only figure out how to turn it on. Easy to install. Thanks Neil
