Answer:
There is an analog dial (from off to high), which lets you set the temperature to whatever level is comfortable. Temperature is maintained by an internal thermostat, which turns the unit on and off. There is no thermometer, so adjustment is done by how warm you feel.

Answer:
This heater has a thermostat that is set by a knob but is not marked as to temperature setting so it is by trial and error.
It is made to be mounted in a 2x4 wall with at least 1/2" drywall as the box is 4" deep.

Answer:
There is no external switch, but the internal wiring connections are designed to allow you to easily disable half of the heating elements, allowing it to run at half wattage.
Yes, the mounting box is designed to fit flush into a 2x4 wall cavity. When you add the top grill cover, the face will stick out about 1/2" or so from the wall.

The temperature range is 40 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit, and the thermostat controls the amount of time the unit is operating to reach your desired temperature. If the knob is turned counterclockwise to its lowest position, the thermostat will keep your room within about 5 degrees of the 40 degree low setting.
And the Com-Pak Plus style heaters are made to install into a 2x4 stud wall. We've included a link to an installation video that walks you through the installation. This particular model mounts to one side of the stud cavity.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 24 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quality product, easy to install. This heater does an outstanding job for a 120v device, and if you're comfortable with wiring and cutting holes in sheetrock it is very easy to install. The included instructions are excellent, best I've seen in a while, so the finished job looks like it was done by a professional. June 30, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by CadetCom-Pak Plus In-Wall Electric Heater The CadetCom-Pak Plus 9 in. x 12 in. 1500-Watt 120-Volt Fan-Forced In-Wall Electric Heater is quiet and provides supplemental heat to my kitchen. The heater is too small to heat a room by it self but works great to add warmth to a room that the existing furnace system can't keep at a comfortable temperature. I did have an issue with the tapered enclosure. The manufacturer provided a self-sticking neoprene spacer to help fill the void against the stud. In some ways that made it easier to install the screws into the stud because they were at an angle. My installation was in old work and it would have be difficult to add a nailer to the adjacent stud. Best part about the fan was it made my wife happy. March 8, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good product! This heater is much smaller than I realized. However, it also gets hotter and heats better than I expected, even given it's small size. It was easy to install, made more so because the wall where I mounted it was unfinished on the backside, with appropriate electric wiring for a simple installation. I wish it had an actual thermostat with temperature settings. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 just because the thermostat could remain simple, but have temperature readings. The thermostat dial is a simple "turn clockwise for hotter, turn counter clockwise for cooler" arrangement. However, once set, it does a great job of heating to, and maintaining the heat consistently. January 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good heat, compact and clean look! Easy to assemble and install. Good and simple wiring connection. Nice finish with the grill and it performs as expected. The only minor detail is that the knob of the thermostat is off-center with the stamped circle on the grill, otherwise I would have January 31, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great, quick heat! I installed in our living room. This unit puts out great heat the instant that it is switched on. The built-in thermostat is very handy. Warms up living room fast and warm! December 28, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very good In-Wall Heaters The unit is easy to install. Heater element works very quick and provides lots of heat. Weakness of this unit is the fan...two of mine are louder than the others. , but still overall not bad for the money. March 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Drop-in replacement The original unit installed when our house was built in 1994 finally died. I was worried that I might not be able to find a replacement, and wall cutting might be involved. 8^/ But this Cadet was the drop-in replacement I was hoping for. December 29, 2015
