Answer:
Yes, you will need to purchase a larger RBF series recessed wall can for this heater. You will also need to make the opening in your wall a little bigger because the heater is larger than 9" by 15". The rough-in dimensions for this heater are 10 1/4 inches wide by 17 inches high. Please refer to the Owner's manual in the "More Info" section of the product listing for installation instructions.

I don't think so. I replaced and old radiant heater approximately that size, made some minor adjustments, and used the same box.

The RBF 1000 watt, 120 volt heater does not come with a wall can and will need to be purchased separately. Please see the link below.

I am replacing my old 19x12 wall heater in my bathroom. Alignment questions....

I am replacing my old one measuring 19x12. I have read that you can purchase this RBF 12x19 1000 watt 120 volt electric fan-forced in-wall bath heater and it aligns pretty well to the existing 'box' in the wall for the screw mounts. But then I see people saying you HAVE TO buy the can to insert into the wall to mount the heater. Which is it? I don't want to have to buy a can and find that the heater already aligns to my existing heaters screw holes

Answer:
If the old heater is over 15 years old (approximately) , the wall can should be replaced. Alternatively you can measure the inside of the current wall can (should be 16 ¾ x 10) , if it is smaller, replace the wall can.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect Fit! Bought the heater to replace an old Thermador heater that went out finally after 50+ years. Although I must admit i liked the old heater with the coils, this new one does the job although in my opinion it takes longer to heat up. With some minor adjustments, I was able to fit in the same hole using the same wall can. All in all I am satisfied with the product and would recommend. March 22, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor quality I bought this unit to replace a 50 yr old thermador. The mounting holes in the old can do not match the new unit. The unit protrudes out of the wall which would be ok if the chrome grate covered it. The chrome sits on top of the unit not covering the corners. It looks terrible. The 50 yr old chrome looks better than the new. March 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A very good product It is a very good product that works easily and very well. It was easily installed It does not make but a low unnoticeable noise I am pleased with it I have been using it since it was installed March 26, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by I am pleased... I had to have someone come to install the heater, as it was not the same size as the one that no longer worked, so the cost over all was quite a lot more than I expected. The heater looks nice, works well, and the fan part is very quiet. It doesn't put out as much heat as I expected, but does take the chill out of the bathroom in just a few minutes. Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase. February 16, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Cadet bath heater I had the unit installed by an electrician. It works fine and is a replacement of the same heater I had before. December 29, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by RBF series 1000-Watt 120-Volt Electric fan- Forced in-Wall Bathroom Heater blows air but the fan is stronger than the heat so if the room is already cool all you feel is the fan with cool air the only time you feel heat is when your hand is right in front of the heater grill .so it's been installed for about a month now and I give stopped using it. December 10, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Just OK This wall mounted heater has a stand-off plate that the faceplate mounts to, so the install faceplate is not flush with the wall. The faceplate and the stand-off have two different finishes, so they do not match and the faceplate itself is made of thin gauge metal, so it does not sit flush against the stand-off bracket. This is a cheap replica of a very sturdy model of the same look from years back. August 18, 2015
