Customer Questions & Answers

When the thermostat is in the lowest setting is it completely off?

I purchased the cadet btf1w and found that the picture of the thermostat knob on the instructions is different then the actual knob. The picture shows a knob with the word "OFF" on it and the actual knob only has high and low. It is very important that the knob shuts off the heater. Thank you.

I'm having the same problem. The electrician noticed it after he installed it and flipped the breaker switch. There is no off position, it does stay on, and if you've had it installed already and don't want constant heat on in your home, you'll have to pay an electrician again to come switch it out.

Buying the Cadet 750-watt 240 baseboard heater. Single pole (BTF1W) & double pole (BTF2W) support 240V, which one is right to install?

Asked by: Granddad
You need to check for the proper voltage if you are changing an existing heater. This will require the use of a meter or you can find some information on the existing heater. You may check your electrical panel and see if it has a circuit breaker that is dedicated for the existing heater. BE CAREFUL!! If your not sure contact an electrician!!

Careful!! I also have model BTF1W which can be used on EITHER of your heaters but most definitely NOT ON BOTH. YOU CANNOT USE ONE THERMOSTAT TO CONTROL ALL 3 HEATERS TOGETHER. You will need a minimum of 2 separate thermostats- 1 for the 120v units and another for the 240v unit.

What the difference between single and double pole thermostats.

What the difference between single and double pole thermostats.
Asked by: Customer
A double pole thermostat has an "off" setting and uses four wires. A single pole thermostat only uses two wires and has a low setting, meaning that the heater will automatically turn on if the temperature drops to around 40 degrees. If you're replacing an old thermostat, check to see what you're using now, it's usually easiest to replace it with a similar model.

I had to buy some form of heat source besides space heaters to get my Homeowners insurance on my new home purchase. Time was limited and there was no time to send this back and replace it. Now i have to pay an electrician again so he can switch out thermostats. Who makes or uses a thermostat that doesn't shut off? Unless you live at the North Pole, why would you ever need heat that stays on constantly? It costs $250 to have one baseboard with thermostat put in. I wonder how much it will cost to change out thermostat? CADET NEEDS TO PRINT "NO OFF POSITION" ON THEIR PACKAGING! I'm very upset over this. I have enough to do with a new home purchase and closing.
