Customer Questions & Answers

When will there be more available? Currently need 4 and only 1 is available to order.

Asked by: Bill

at what tempature will the fluid freeze.

this unit will be used in a hunting cabin and will be exposed to long periods of tie to freezing temperatures. will th internal fluid freeze and at what temperatures.
Asked by: shadow
Thank you for your question. The fluid in the Softheat baseboard is a non-toxic mineral oil based fluid which will not freeze. In extreme cold conditions while the heater is not being used, you may find that the fluid will thicken, but once you turn on the heater and it warms up, so too will the fluid and the heater will operate normally.

Do these click or make noises when heating up and cooling down?

I currently have a 25+ year old electric baseboard heater in a bedroom. It is very noisy as it heats up and then cools down, the clicking and tapping is nonstop during these times and wakes me up. I need something silent.
Asked by: Bk
Thank you for your question. The SoftHeat baseboard heater is very quiet when operating and typically will not make any noise at all. Very seldom there might be a slight click in which case some minor adjustments will need to be made, but this is only on rare occasion.

Daisy chain two units

I have am upgrading my baseboards. Currently there are two on the same wall that are wired together. To do the same with this model, do I need to purchase left and right side wiring units or can I buy two of the same kind and still wire them together to be on the same thermostat?
Asked by: DogWillHunt
Thank you for your question. Yes, you will need to order both a left hand and right hand wire heater. These two heaters can be wired together on the same thermostat as long as they are wired in parallel and as long as the combined amperage of the heaters does not exceed the amperage rating of thermostat.

left hand vs. right hand wired is that based on looking at the unit?

When I order a unit and it asks left hand or right hand wired is it relative to the unit or as you are looking at the unit?
Asked by: Phoenix
Hi Mark, the left hand wiring is as you're looking at the front of the unit. You will take the cover off, and you will see the wiring connections on your left side. Check out figure #3 of page 3 of the installation guide located in the info and guides box on the product web page.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely Happy With This Heater I put an office in my basement and it had baseboard heat that had been removed. I decided to go with this heater even though it was a little more money than some of the others available. I am completely happy with this heater. The room is about 16 x 20 and there is an open hallway that connects to it. It keeps the entire area very comfortable. One of the best features that sold me was the soft radiant heat. It doesn't kick on and blast you with heat and then cool off and you are freezing again. It keeps my home office perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warming Up Easy to install with simple instructions. Heats quicker than traditional baseboard and stays warm longer. More expensive to buy initially but does warm a larger area while using less electricity since it stays warm longer after shutting off. The 82" heats our 15x20 all seasons room with a nice even heat. *Baseboard has to be level to work properly. Elevate from the floor to keep it from rusting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big improvement in interior design of componants I replaced an earlier model (same manufacturer)with this one. I compared the old with the new by removing the outer cover and comparing the internals. There is a big change in the design. I was puzzled if the claims of being better than the old design would really work better. Boy was I surprised, after using the heater for three weeks its very quiet and puts out the heat. I'm very satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heater works well and was a good solution for supplemental heat. I purchased this heater to provide supplemental heat in a basement office. The heater provides plenty of heat for the purpose, and is very simple and attractive in appearance. The heater makes more clicking noise than I expected, but I have not yet tried loosening the mounting screws. The quality is good, but the front cover attaches fairly loosely. The internal element is substantial and appears well made. The included electronic thermostat is very accurate and works beautifully.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job nicely! I used this product for half of the winter and it heated the room nicely. It was a little more money than the cheaper baseboards but this one stays heated for a while longer. I would recommend this item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Am very happy with the Cadet hydronic products ... have bought several wattages and applied to (probably) an unusual application - a 1950 built railroad passenger car. My prior railroad car installations have used intense resistance heaters that burn to the touch, these are so much safer.
