Product Overview

Find the right Cadet electric heater for your needs

The durable Cadet 4,000-Watt Garage Heater requires a NEMA #6-20 240-Volt receptacle (not a standard 120-Volt outlet) to provide your garage or workshop with powerful warmth on cold days. It features 2 heat setting positions for versatility in either low or high wattages. It also offers a built-in fan-only switch that provides comfortable air circulation without producing heat during the summer months. Ideal for warming garages and workshops, with rugged construction.

  • 4,000-Watt premium utility heater at 240-Volt provides warmth for large, hard-to-heat areas like garages and workshops up to 600 sq. ft.
  • Rugged 20-Gauge steel construction, with a baked-on powder-coat paint finish for long-lasting wear
  • Built-in fan-only switch provides comfortable air circulation without heat
  • High-temperature safety feature turns heater off if normal operating temperature is exceeded
  • Sealed heating elements protected by metal sheathing and aluminum fins for durability
  • Factory equipped with a bracket for either wall mount or floor stand use
  • 2-pole thermostatic control offers positive off position
  • Includes bracket for wall mount or floor stand use

Plugged in my new "Hot One" and while it blew air, the air wasn't very warm on either high or low...

Plugged in my new "Hot One" and while it blew air, the air wasn't very warm on either high or low. I called Cadet and got what I feel was a run around on the condition of my wiring, the size of the wire, amps output, etc, etc. Question - does the air coming out of the 4000 feel hot, warm, tepid, what?! My 1500 watt heater with fan puts out much hotter air but just not enough.
Asked by: Truk
Truk, Sorry that it felt like we were giving your the run around on the phone. I spoke with our engineering team to get a better understanding. They say that the air might not feel very warm coming out of this heater, but that doesn't mean it isn't working. They say that this heater pushes out a lot of air so that 4,000 watts is more spread out than it would be with your 1500 watt heater, which pushes out a smaller amount of heated air. If you have any issues though, please don't hesitate to reach back out to us so we can make sure we take care of you.

Will this heater get a room to a temperature of 120-150 degrees f? Without shutting off and able to hold that temp4-7hr?

Asked by: matt
Yes if it is a small room (less than 100 square feet) and not leaky.

Temperature setting Thermostat

There are not Numbers on the thermostat dial, just "notches". Does anyone know what the temperature range is for this heater (ex. 40 degrees up to 80 degrees and each notch equals 5 degree change?) , or how many degrees each "notch" represents?
Asked by: Cindi
No, you would have to have a thermometer.

Does the heater make noise? Does it make a whining noise, or is it white fan noise?

I want to use it in a room where I'll be sleeping. White noise is okay but whine like I've heard on other heaters is unacceptable.
Asked by: Billybobjimmyjoe
Hello, thank you for your question! The Hot One 4000 watt garage heater is designed to heat a 400-450 square foot garage or workshop. Due to the higher wattage of this heater, it will be louder as compared to our smaller wattage heaters. We generally would not recommend using this heater in a bedroom.

I am waiting on a response to my question about the "Hot One" but for right now I am not impressed. I plugged the unit in yesterday and let it run on high for 1 1/2 hours in my garage. The outside temp was 34, the garage was 46, and after 1 1/2 hours the temp in the garage was still 46. I can hold my hand in the air blowing out of the unit and it barely feels warm. Even my 1500 watt unit with blower is a LOT hotter. Called Cadet and basically felt like I got the run around. Right now I am not impressed with the "Hot One."

I let it run on high for quite some time and the temperature inside the garage has not raised. I can hold my hand in front of the air blowing out of the unit and it barely feels warm. The 1500 watt unit wall heater in the bathroom puts how much hotter air. While it looks nice, it does not function and has been a waste of money. It is not the "Hot One."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the Job! I bought the RCP402S right after building my wood shop in 2004, and the unit performs well after 13 years. My shop is 2970 cu. ft. I find I need to air blow out the dust occasionally, and just do it every other week. Highly recommend The Hot One.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Can't keep up I bought this hoping it could heat my 500 sq ft garage but it doesn't seem to be able to keep up and keep it warm so I'll prolly have to return it and find something else cause I expected more out of a $300.00 heater.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hot One Garage Heater I have 2 of these heaters in my 30 x 32 garage. They have been in use for 7 years with no problems. It gets very cold in Minnesota but these heaters do the job even on a medium setting. They replaced an LP ceiling mounted furnace that cost more to run than these 2 Hot Ones. I restore collector cars so a heater that works 24/7 is a must. They are built like a tank and I am very happy with them. It is nice getting in your car on a sub 0 morning and it is all warmed up for you. My friend saw how mine worked and he bought one for his garage and is happy with his also. Great heater.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from "cadet heater/a little workhorse" I've owned and used this product in my 20 x 40 cabinet shop for 4 years. I did extensive shopping before deciding on this heater. It is by far the best value for the money. For such a small unit it puts out a great deal of heat. Easy to install, operates very quietly. I'm purchasing another one for my garage.
