It sure will, as long as you have a standard lightbulb socket to screw into.

Center Mark Drywall Recessed Light Fixture Locator Tool Kit (3-Piece) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect tool to have if you don't like taking risks damaging material. I'm not sure if a professional would choose to buy up a few kits of these or not, as it might be a waste of time for them if they already know how to properly locate their recessed lights. However, it's definitely not a bad tool to have for the homeowner who likes to diy and save money. This will take the guesswork out of locating lights and eliminate the risk of creating extra holes to patch up later. The kit includes two targets and one locator magnet. The targets screw right into your existing light bulb inlets and drop free to whatever depth you need (no adjusting necessary). Put on your drywall and pop on this magnet. It'll show you where you need to make your cut. This will work for 1/2 and 5/8 drywall, plywood, osb, wood, fiberboard, etc. Keep in mind, however, that a magnet loses its power as the space is increased. After about 3/4, this system will be ineffective.

I just used this on three recessed can lights and was able to locate the centers very effectively without an guess work. The best tip that I can add is that the magnet screwed into the recessed can fixture needs to be against the sheet rock to work. I did this on 1/2" sheet rock. I would recommend this tool for novices on up.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Convenient - but poor quality -- worked for 6 can lights This is good way to install drywall over can lights in new construction. BUT... the quality is not great. The magnetic head broke off one of the posts before I made it through 6 can lights. They're convenient to use - just not robust. Certainly not for the pro user.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A steal at any price Excellent little tool for recessed lighting hole locating. Simple to use and dummy-proof. I use a Roto-zip, but occasionally get off the mark when I run into a joist or other obstacle. With this tool, you know where your cut should be. Only improvement would be to include a compass and/or a center hole in the locator (you can drill your own). You screw the inside piece into the light socket - it slides up or down to contact the drywall. The outside piece snaps right into place once you get close to where the fixture is. Then you use a compass or template to mark the cutout. Very easy and extremely accurate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well worth the money, makes the job easier I had to sheet rock a 20x30' ceiling all by myself with the help of a lift. I had 11 recessed lights to cut out. This really made my life easier, and it was worth buying them for this single job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from makes it simple This product worked excellent. I found it worked best if you cut the center out first so you can see the side of the fixture and then just work your way around you will end up with perfect holes everytime. Loved it.
