Answer:
The shape of the twin-tank unit is more like a box, and easier to move and handle. The tradeoff is that more metal and more welds are required, so it's going to be more expensive.

Emily,
My thoughts is the size is easier to move around - You can absolutely lift this with one hand into a back of a truck or move it out of the way. The cost might have something to also do with that that the tanks are Aluminum - not steel - so there smaller risk of water rusting out the inside of the tanks.
Not sure if this answered it - but it took me a few minutes to understand why this model ended

Not sure if this answered it - but it took me a few minutes to understand why this model ended in "A" and it cost more than the other model even though it had the exact same features - " A - for Alum"

I asked this question before and got the usual read the specs which I didn't have because I couldn't find them in the specs listed on homedepots.listing for this product on line . SO AGAIN HOW MANY cfm, s do I need to safely operate this freeman framing gun that requires 12.85 scfm with 100 fasteners per minute @ 90 psi. I own a 6 gallon porter gable pancake that produces 2.6 cfm @ 90 lbs max 135lbs . Is this sufficient and don't tell me to calculate scfms to cfms at 60 degrees . The high today was minus 1 below !!! I now have recleved the guns and want to use them but don't want to void the warranty by using the wrong compressor !

Answer:
The basic range for this kind of nailer is 4 to 6 CFM. Since your not going to operate the tool any where near "standard" conditions you can reduce the SCFM by a factor of 2 or 3. Your 6 gallon pancake will probably not work, suggest using something a little bigger around 2HP 10+ gallon compressor.

Answer:
I would say yes, although I have not tried it my self. It easily reaches the pressure you would normally run an impact wrench at, 80-100 psi. It recovers very quickly after use. If you are a DIY guy taking the tires off your truck, I believe you would have no problems. If you are a pro and using it continuously you may want something with a higher storage volume.

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 77 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lightweight and quiet This is the first twin tank compressor I have ever owned that doesn't throw my back out when lifting in and out of my work vehicle. It is also the quietest twin tank oilless that I have ever heard - it makes about as much noise as a refrigerator. Although far superior to my Emglo and Senco twins, I am disappointed in the air delivery running my Hitachi framing nailer as it is unable to keep up with rapid fire for sheathing. A major design flaw, in my opinion, is the power switch location. The lever is right near the relief pin so the pin frequently gets inadvertently pulled while turning on or off. On the upside, the quick-release tank drain makes it easy to bleed out condensation at the end of the day. August 2, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice and quiet Compressor is nice and quite and have reconfigured so it fills up my old compressors large tank!! Great compressor for the money August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great and quiet! First I guess these guys CTools made this same model number for Husky. I bought the Husky and it only lasted 8 months and completely died. Now Home Depot has discontinued the Husky model for some reason. I had to go through a bunch of hoops because the California tools model same model number cost a lot more. This item is only sold online but Home Depot upgraded my return that's why am leaving five stars. I just hope this one doesn't die and eight months but there is a one-year warranty. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Money well spent! This is by far the quietest compressor I have ever heard! I use this in a concession tent under my front table and don't even realize it's running when I'm talking to a customer, the air smasher I use makes far more noise than the compressor, I would even go as far as to say the interaction with the customer is louder. The aluminum tanks make it lightweight and easy to carry. I highly recommend this to anyone needing a truly quiet compressor. June 22, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Pretty good Quiet in comparison to other brands found at hardware stores. Can easily carry a conversation with it running indoors and in a small room (450 sq ft) I'd be very interested to hear how much louder the larger motor version is. The manual recommends not continuously running it so that the electric motor is on for more than an hour. May 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Not as quiet as expected The compressor is very good, but not as quiet as I expected. Dewalt has a comparable 60-70db compressor for 220 so this is on the pricey end but def worth it if you work indoors in an occupied home May 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Impressive First- I'm glad I spent the extra cost for the 8lbs. of weight compared to the heavier steel tanks. It is heavy enough but also (to me) gives a hopeful sign of quality with the weight of the motor. Amazed at how the little filter and plastic tube reduces the noise, I run it inside occasionally! Holds pressure great after tightening a line up. Really love how fast it pumps back up. March 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This is the best of the best. Just what took you so long to start to sell the best air compressor made????? May 5, 2015
