Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Apollo999 This unit claims to be very quiet operating - and it is. That was my primary reason for buying this unit. The price at 255.00 is more than double comparable products of same capacity (but louder). For that price, I was hoping that it would have more oomph or gusto but it does not.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Rich Finally, I found a very quiet air compressor
I bought this product because it was very quiet and the 6.3 gallon tank had the capacity that I needed.
This compressor will be primary used for blowing water out of the nooks and crevices of a recently washed car. It works great.
I will also use this compressor to fill high PSI tires (light duty truck and travel trailer).
I also like the compact size of this compressor. The pancake style of compressors that Home Depot carried in store were too wide for my storage considerations.
My only complaint was that I had to bend over too much to move the compressor. I am 6 foot.
I had to order this product online. Chose Home Depot because if I did not like it, I could return it. Too bad that Home Depot does not carry it in store.

This is a great compressor for use around the house. I used it to operate a roofing nail gun and to fill a car tire, and it performed just fine. I would not throw it in the back of a truck or trailer without protecting it somehow.
I had a brief scare when I left the compressor unplugged with a leaky air hose connected. The tank pressure dropped to the point where the spring-loaded valve on the water trap opened and started hissing. It was a little unnerving to have an air compressor spontaneously start hissing, but I was relieved when I figured out what was going on. Now I leave the air hose disconnected when not in use.
A couple reviewers have complained about the wheels rubbing on the tank. I think it might be due to installing the wheels backward (the wheels are not symmetrical). I've included a picture of how I installed the wheels on my unit, and they haven't rubbed at all.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Marinewife Super quiet compressor
I use high speed air tools for carving on eggs, gourds and antler. I had another air compressor that was so loud, it not only was hard for me to listen to, but was a nuisance for my neighbors. This air compressor is so quiet, I can carry on a conversation while working with my carving/engraving tool without a problem.
There was very little to set up, although we did have to wait for a replacement air filter cartridge from the manufacturer before using the compressor. That quickly arrived; we installed it and I was busy working within minutes. It's also easy to drain.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who needs a smaller air compressor for home chores or even hobbies that require one.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BAIT Quiet and Efficient
Received well packed with all the pieces. Assembly was easy.
It is quiet! It fills fast from the start and quietly keeps up with tools within its CFM range. I use it to power spray coolant misters at 70psi on a lathe and vertical mill. That application is at the upper end of its capacity, but it quietly sits in the corner chugging away without variation in coolant delivery. I have also used it to inflate tires and run my nail gun.
Did I say, it's quiet? Its so quiet that I leave it on all the time. It's in the garage. We never hear it come on. Contrast that with the guy 2 houses away that is remodeling his kitchen. We hear his little pancake compressor come on whenever he uses it. This is a great machine for the home shop, and if you need to do HVLP or other high volume uses, get the bigger brother of this little gem.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by crooner7 So far, I love it!
I haven't used this enough to make a quality review, yet, but just wanted to say the compressor IS just as quiet as advertised, and worked very well on its initial testing. One reason I wanted to put in a comment or two was regarding the wheel assembly. Evidently, there were some modifications made and now the wheels no longer are a good fit and will wobble, unless you use some extra washers. I called California Tools and spoke with George, the Customer Service Manager, who apologized profusely and said he could send out some washers, etc., and said they would definitely look into this matter. I explained it was a very small thing, really, and I could get my own washers, etc. But, if you are assembling, and you want a decent fit, you will need to buy some more flat washers and a couple of spring or lock washers, as well. Otherwise, I think I am going to love this compressor!!!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Airbrusher A really nice compressor
I had a little trouble assembling it, but a quick call to customer service at California Air Tools was really helpful. Not that there was much to assemble, it comes pretty well put together except for the wheels and air filter and such. But I wasn't sure if I had the right air hose coupling, etc, and they were really great about helping me out.
I use it for airbrushing (inside the house) and it is SO MUCH quieter than my old compressor! I think my old compressor actually gave me some hearing damage and I would leave the room when I ran it. This one, while still makes a fair amount of noise, allows me to stay in the room and stay painting. That, coupled with the 6.3 gallon tank so I don't have to run the motor very often means I have really increased my productivity! I had no idea so much time was lost leaving the room every time I ran the compressor. Now I actually get some painting done!
So I'm really pleased with it. While there are probably even quieter compressors out there, from my internet research they cost a LOT more. This compressor does the trick really well at a price I can afford. I'm very happy with it. Great for indoor airbrushing!
