Customer Questions & Answers

how long will this product hold "air" once unplugged?

how long does it take for the 6.3 to fill from an empty start?
Asked by: vinpark
You can see my review about this very thing from a few days ago but to recap: Out of the box I let it fill to shut-off at 110 psi and it held 109 psi for the next 3 weeks and still hasn't lost any. That says a lot about quality control.

Is it really 'ultra quiet'?

I would like to airbrush miniatures indoors, but my workspace is right next to where my baby sleeps. My current compressor is sort of quiet, but would assuredly wake him. Can anyone tell me how quiet it actually is, perhaps in dB SPL?
Asked by: hobbydad
No joke, if "I" were tired enough, I could sleep next to it! It's so quiet I had to have my good neighbor/friend's turn it on just to brag.

Does this air compressor come with a water trap or do I need to buy that seperate?

From the picture given it looks like it,but in the description it says that there are not extra parts (Home Depot website).
Asked by: aquacora
My unit came with a water trap installed upstream of the regulator. There is an additional moisture blow-down valve on the bottom of the tank.

Use with Nail Guns?

How does this compressor work with 2 inch "nail" guns, trim guns and staplers??
Asked by: Ricobob
It depends on the size of nail gun you use. If you are using a gun for concrete nails or large nails, no.

Customer Reviews

6.3 gal. 1 HP Ultra Quiet and Oil-Free Steel Tank Air Compressor is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 214.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth it for the quiet This is a great compressor for use around the house. I used it to operate a roofing nail gun and to fill a car tire, and it performed just fine. I would not throw it in the back of a truck or trailer without protecting it somehow. I had a brief scare when I left the compressor unplugged with a leaky air hose connected. The tank pressure dropped to the point where the spring-loaded valve on the water trap opened and started hissing. It was a little unnerving to have an air compressor spontaneously start hissing, but I was relieved when I figured out what was going on. Now I leave the air hose disconnected when not in use. A couple reviewers have complained about the wheels rubbing on the tank. I think it might be due to installing the wheels backward (the wheels are not symmetrical). I've included a picture of how I installed the wheels on my unit, and they haven't rubbed at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional It doesn't get any quieter than this. As a former recording studio engineer I'm well acquainted with sound pressure levels...this unit boasts 60db. Though I no longer have a db meter I am certain that it is actually quieter than 60db and I will be borrowing a db meter just to verify my suspicions. 60db is basically the volume of normal conversation in a quiet room. It fills the tank swiftly and it's a good looking unit with a small footprint. As far as service...there was a plastic cover that was damaged in shipment and the factory delivered 2 of them within a few days. SUPER SATISFIED.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Low Capacity Compressor Great for tire and toy inflation. If you have very limited needs for compressed air, it fills quickly (120sec to 120lbs) and is quiet (for a compressor). You could definitely have this unit in a community area and carry on conversation and not be irritated by the level of the noise. I did return this unit for a 2 HP 10 GAL unit only due to the limited capacity of this unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The world is good again I recently purchased this for my home use. It is used for basic carpentry tasks and mostly my upholstery work. It is the best little friend you can have... lol I say that because when I retired I brought home with me a very nice, fairly quiet unit. It lasted about 10 more years and the cost of replacement steered to a different model. Lets call it the 'red' beast. The best nearly had me kicked out of the neighborhood. You'd of thought I was testing jet engines in the garage. I called all the neighbors over last week for a drink and introduced them to this. I'm back in good graces. Don't hesitate...just buy one. If you don't want it anyway. We're boys and we love to make noise but at 77 a quiet machine is very much appreciated. If you do alot of steady nailing I'd go for the larger model. This handles more than I need but it would be a chore to roof a house with it You heard me...Now Get... Go buy deserve it!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Great product, ultra quiet with living in an apartment community I don't have to worry about the noise disturbing my neighbors as I work on building furniture and models.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet and Efficient Received well packed with all the pieces. Assembly was easy. It is quiet! It fills fast from the start and quietly keeps up with tools within its CFM range. I use it to power spray coolant misters at 70psi on a lathe and vertical mill. That application is at the upper end of its capacity, but it quietly sits in the corner chugging away without variation in coolant delivery. I have also used it to inflate tires and run my nail gun. Did I say, it's quiet? Its so quiet that I leave it on all the time. It's in the garage. We never hear it come on. Contrast that with the guy 2 houses away that is remodeling his kitchen. We hear his little pancake compressor come on whenever he uses it. This is a great machine for the home shop, and if you need to do HVLP or other high volume uses, get the bigger brother of this little gem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just awesome and so quiet, I can hear again in the garage! I purchased this as a replacement from my old tired 20 year old oil less air compressor, and all I can say is WOW! When it turns on it's just a quiet hum. Looks well made and seems durable (clean welds on the tank). It supplies my airbrush and small air tools just fine. Now if you do a lot of heavy shop use I wouldn't recommend this compressor cause you'd probably want something bigger. I mostly a car tinker or hobbyist, a not full on builds so this suits me just fine. Definitely would purchase another one if I needed it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super quiet compressor I use high speed air tools for carving on eggs, gourds and antler. I had another air compressor that was so loud, it not only was hard for me to listen to, but was a nuisance for my neighbors. This air compressor is so quiet, I can carry on a conversation while working with my carving/engraving tool without a problem. There was very little to set up, although we did have to wait for a replacement air filter cartridge from the manufacturer before using the compressor. That quickly arrived; we installed it and I was busy working within minutes. It's also easy to drain. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who needs a smaller air compressor for home chores or even hobbies that require one.
