This would have got a five, but- like others it would not stay lit. 4 maybe 5 minutes max. I have it in a mildy windy area, so the slightest wind and it would shut off. Now I am not one to have something get the better of me. So this is what was wrong, the flame tube has a hole for a flame near the heat sensor, this was not a clean hole so I cleaned it up/reamed it and repositioned the sensor. Now the flame doesn't flicker and the sensor is in the flame. presto - works great. Camp Chef needs to check the Quality Assurance on these.

It's attractive-looking and, after you add the glass stones, it is very sturdy. It puts off a lot of heat for its size, and is a very attractive centerpiece to enjoy a glass of wine or two. If you're looking for a high-end fire table, this probably isn't it, but it's also not a cheap-looking item that you would go to Walmart for. As with most things in life, you get what you pay for. And at around $400, this seems like a nice investment. Here are the reasons why I didn't give it a 5-star rating. (1) The engineering just felt a little strange. It's a bit of a pain to assemble, but not overly so. The instructions say part of the assembly is best as a 2-person job. It's true, but I did it alone with the help of a couple of patio chairs to help keep the side/front/back panels in place while putting in the first few assembly screws. Note* You definitely need a long-shafted screwdriver for part of the assembly. 2) Most of the screws went in and tightened perfectly. But a warning: Do Not Over Tighten! I really was not doing so, but a few of the screws easily strip at the very end, and it can be confusing because most of the screws tighten firmly. 3) There was a small paint chip/dent in one of the parts. Because they actually do package this unit well and the box wasn't damaged, I can only assume that the damage happened during manufacturing or packaging in China -- and they sent it through anyway. Not good Q.C. Fortunately, it's not in-your-face visible, so I can live with it. May you have good luck, and enjoy!

Wasn't bad to put together but would not stay lit. Called the company and they quickly sent me a new thermocoupler. After 45 minutes to an hour I replaced the thermocoupler and the pit worked fine for a few times. Lately it has gone to shutting off after a few minutes I then wait about five minutes and start it again and it works. I shut off my propane tank after every use so don't know it that messes with the thermocoupler. If it didn't look so nice and take up less room than my old one I would have returned it. Going to ask my neighbor the plumber how I can remove the thermocoupler and still have it work the first time I start it.

The unit did not stay lit and the top popped as it heated up. Once we got it to stay lit you could only use it on low and medium settings. When we turned it to high it would click off. Contacted Home Depot and we had a conversation with the manufacture. She stated that wasn't right and would send us out something to replace the lighting structure. We waited and waited and after never got the item so we took it back. After taking it back then the replacement item showed up. Took that back to Home Depot too. THIS ITEM IS DEFINATELY NOT WORTH THE COST!!!!!

The overall size and look is great, but everything else left me wanting more. First, the metal around the sides is rather thin. Bumping into this table causes it to wobble slightly. Second, the fire itself would not stay lit. I followed the instructions and the fire would remain on for about 5-10 minutes each time, and then I would hear a click and it would shut off. Finally, the letters printed on the knob began to scratch off. I haven't even had the unit for a month.

However, the igniter lights the gas but then pops completely out to the off position. It's a bit complicated to release it just light enough so it doesn't pop completely out and keeps the flame. Simply because of this annoyance, I'm giving it two stars. I'll be contacting my local Home Depot to get this fixed but I don't have high hopes. I'd strongly recommend another fire pit that cost more to avoid this cheap design.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! I was hesitant to buy this fire pit because of a lot of the reviews I had read. I ended up buying it anyway, and I'm so glad I did. It's the perfect size for my patio. It provides enough heat for a cooler summer day, and the flames are truly mesmerizing. I've had no issues with the flame going out (I keep it on high), and I only run into issues igniting it if I don't have the gas knob turned enough. As of right now, I highly recommend this product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely thrilled with our purchase! After spending many hours considering the best propane fire pit, we could not be any happier with our decision. The Camp Chef Monterey Fire Pit is a quality piece and a breeze to put together. The bronze finish on the top is stunning; heavy gauge metal base and the cherry on top are the black glass pebbles. The only downside has been lighting it with the click starter.
