Product Overview

While many smokers have just enough power to dry jerky, the Smoke Vault 18 in. and 24 in. creates a wide range of usable heat that can be used for smoking ribs, fish and turkeys as well as baking pies and breads. Infuse that tasty mesquite, hickory, apple - or your favorite smoked flavor - into your meat with the Camp Chef 24 in. Smoke Vault. A simple, matchless-ignition system, fully adjustable heat-control dials and 18,000 BTUs of heat make smoking meat easier. Two adjustable racks and a jerky smoking rack allow you space to smoke to your liking. The 24 in. Vault is even roomy enough to smoke a full turkey in. Three damper valves help control internal temperature and smoke levels while a wood chip tray and water pan create smoke and keep meat moist. Cooking tips, ideas and recipes are included to help get you started.

I have a motor coach and would like to purchase this smoker however, size is an issue for transporting from home to campsites and back. Would your company consider maybe legs the fold up under unit or just removable, but sturdy, so it could be put in a compartment underneath the coach.

We owned a smaller electric smoker in the past and had poor success with the unit which the electronics ultimately failed very quickly. After receiving and and using this unit now a few times we have had great success smoking all types of meat. The unit holds temperature very well and takes a little time to calibrate the units controls to the meats temperature, but once complete the unit is very consistent. I would recommend the use of a separate thermometer in the meat to ensure proper cooking.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smokes the competition Arrived well packed with plenty of styrofoam in a heavy box but the rack supports were bent and required straightening. The drip pan was also bent and the porcelain chipped. Assembled easily. As for its operation the drip pan could be larger. It's not as big as the grates so if you do a full slab of spareribs grease ends up under the pan. It holds temperature fairly well but the gas valve is sensitive to very small adjustments. Bottom line? I am satisfied with it and recommend it.

The product was easy to assembly and met my expectations based upon numerous previous reviews that that pointed to potential flaws before purchase. The need to seal the door to reduce smoke leakage and the door thermometer that failed to read above 150 degrees that will require purchase of an aftermarket thermometer. The Smoke Vault arrived in perfect condition free from bends and nicks as reported in previous reviews.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smoker Vault 24" propane gas smoker Extremely easy to assemble and set up . Very accessible water and wood trays . The only way things could be better is to make reservations in your favorite barbeque restaurant!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 24" Vault Lots of room for meat. Temperature is consistent. Door thermometer is way off. (Use a good digital thermometer instead.) Door leaks a little smoke.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So Far So Good I've used my Smoke Vault 24 once, and so far so good. My local Home Depot didn't stock it so I ordered it and had it delivered to the store. The main reason having it delivered to the store is because I had read several reviews that mentioned the unit was damaged/dented in delivery. If it came that way, I could then exchange it right there at the store. The box did have a couple of tears, but overall it seemed in good shape. When I got it home, I did find one minor dent on the back edge of the top. Not a big deal. Assembly took about 45 minutes - pretty straight forward with the instructions. First use went well. The temperature adjustment is sensitive as mentioned in other reviews, but I found you can pretty much find the sweet spot you're looking for. I also found wind effects the temp as well as if the unit is setting in full sun or shade. I also bent the vents where there is an angle piece to limit the amount the vents can be opened or closed. With the angle piece in place, the vents can be opened all the way, but can only be shut half way. By bending the angle piece flat, I can control the vents much better. My first use was smoking 2 full racks of spare ribs. They turned out great. I also have a charcoal smoker (Weber Smokey Mountain) and is a well built unit, but I found controlling the temp on the charcoal unit much more difficult than the Smoke Vault propane unit. If you open the door of the Smoke Vault to add more water, wood chunks, spritz the meat, or whatever, after closing the door, if you want the heat to return to that sweet spot quickly, you can do it much easier with the propane than charcoal, or just let it set and it returns to the desired temp withing several minutes. Speaking of the door, it leaks a lot of smoke. I may try to apply a gasket that seals the door better. Overall, it does what it's supposed to do. The quality could be higher as far as the heating element and other parts, but for the price it's a good deal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Smoker Easy to assemble. Smoked Beef Jerky and it came out wonderful. Got the propane bottle at Ace Hardware (bought it to own brand new for $15) and then it's $20 to fill each time you need it filled fully. But, you don't have to return and trade and end up with some used bottle..you own your own and you can keep it nice. The smoker worked very very well. And, it looks MUCH NICER in person than it does on the internet. The smoker weighs 75 lbs, but easily manageable as there are handles on each side, so 2 folks can easily carry where you want it to be. We got the cover for it too and it's durable and made well. We can't wait to smoke our own ham and Beef Brisket when the weather warms up. Glad we got propane and not electric. We researched a lot, and feel this was the best for the money. The smoker was also $80 less than the major competitor of this store. We did go on line and buy 2 extra jerky racks and the beer can holder for chickens. Can't wait to try chicken!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Smoker The unit is well built and seems to have a good quality burner. It also consumes less propane than I expected. The inside is very spacious and will easily hold even the largest briskets. The sheet metal construction is a little thinner than I expected, which causes the temps to drift. Not a big issue if you keep the water pan full to help stabilize the temps. The burner gas knob is also very sensitive, which requires some getting used to. Once you get the temp set, it does not require much adjustment. Overall the food that comes out of this smoker has been outstanding every time.
