Answer:
I am a welder and i would be abel to weld one inch thick material with this ,but you must know what you are doing and it not so much how thick the the things your welding is it is how long you use the welder . say for example i would not want to weld continuously for say 2 hours on thick stuff . but this is true for all welders . weld for 10 minutes and stop welding for 5 minutes

Answer:
The specs say it will weld from 24 gauge (0.024") to 3/16" (0.19")... If you know what you're doing, you might be able to stretch that a bit.

After about 5 total hours of use the welder defaulted to maximum power and then shutdown. My investigation of cause determined that the mounting posts for the power level 2 and 3 micro switches were shattered as well as the mounting posts for the bottom switch rotor retaining washer. These plastic posts are integral to the welder'so plastic cover. I contacted CHSM about a replacement cover and was told that the covers were not a replacement part and not available for purchase. With the aid of epoxy and fabricated mounting posts I was able to return the welder to operable status. This type of factory mount is not sturdy enough for the intended purpose and make the welder unreliable and at a minimum CHSM should make available a replacement cover.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to set up and use The set-up instructions were a little incomplete. There was a part left over after following the instructions. Not too difficult figuring out where it went. Once set up, it works well so far. A few youtube videos and I am learning. My first few welds failed, but it was because I was tenuous, using it more like a glue gun than a welder. Now that I've cranked the heat setting up to penetrate the thickness of the metal I'm working with the welds are much better

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far So Good I have used the welder to build a Wood Burning Stove out of a sheet of 14 Gauge Steel. The welder worked good for this thinner steel and was able to make really nice welds. It worked just as good as the more expensive Lincoln welders I've used. I've used this on thicker angle iron to make a welding table and I had no problem making nice strong welds.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good so far I am a novice, learning to weld on my own. It seems pretty straight forward to use. So far I would recommend this welder for a simple combo flux/mig welder. Watched a youtube independent review that sold me on the product.
