Will it stick to Formica

Asked by: VinnyD
Hello and thanks for the question. The Roberts High Performance Ceramic Tile Adhesive and Mastic is designed to bond porous and semi-porous ceramic tile and thin brick over fully cured concrete, cement backer board, cement mortar beds, cement plaster, cement block, gypsum wallboard and exterior grade plywood. I would recommend to remove the Formica as this product needs to be installed on a porous surface. If you have any more questions, please contact us at 866-435-8665. Thanks.

Customer Reviews

1-qt. High Performance Ceramic Tile Adhesive and Mastic is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value for the money. This was the only such product I could find for outdoor use in cold climate. Very satisfactory experience with it, at a very good price and free delivery to store.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It is holding up. I had installed almost all my tiles with the thin-set mortar you have to mix yourself and then ran out with only four tiles left. I didn't need another 50 pound bag of sand...or even 25 pound bag. So I decided to go for the small pre-mixed bucket of adhesive. I did have some concerns after reading some of the reviews. It seems you would be at the mercy of chance as to whether you would get a bucket that wasn't too old and dry. But, I figured I could always return them until I found one that was the right consistency. I lucked out and got a good mix on my first attempt. It has been a month and the four 12x12 tiles I installed are holding up well. The product itself is very easy to use; no mixing, no dust flying around. A small bucket is more expensive than a 25-pound bag of mortar, but if you aren't going to use the whole bag, it would be a waste of money anyway. Bottom line....if you have a very small project and get a fresh bucket of tile adhesive, this is a great product. For cost purposes, I wouldn't go this route if you have a big job to accomplish.
