Answer:
It can be placed into plaster walls as long as the walls aren't thicker than 1-1/4".
Anything thicker, you can use a longer screw that is the same type, just more in length for proper installation.

Hello I am replaceing some outdoor electrical outlets, covers and the box.
it is an old house and someone used a round ceiling box out side with no GFI and a funky cover.

I can clean up the round hole and fit the new 2 gang blue box BH234R.
Two GFI units inside.
with the bell MM1410c cover.
? is if the bell cover will fit up to the new BH234R box?

Answer:
The BH234R is designed to accept standard two gang covers, so yes, the Bell cover should work. Another option would be to use our double gang in use weatherproof cover (Red Dot brand) model 2CKU.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Non-Metallic Old Work Box Much better than the standard Carlon "blue" old work box. Heavy design so it doesn't bend or deform like the standard boxes do. Although I haven't had any issues with the flip-up wings that hold the box in-place they are a little flimsy so you need to pay attention to their alignment. I would have given it a 5 star if the wings were a little heavier duty, but all-in-all an excellence choice for old work. August 8, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Cheap mounting tabs These boxes use a plastic tap instead of a metal tap to secure the box to the wall. The box is OK, but the retaining clips are so cheap that they fail. First, the hole in the tab is too small for the screw, so you have to run the screw through it at least once to thread the tab enough so it will seat against the wall without stripping the screw head out. It will bind on the guide on the back side of the box if you don't. I had to use soap on the threads as a lube because it is so bad. Second, after a few days mounted in the wall, the tab just breaks off on its own and allows the box to come out of the wall. You find this out when you go to install the wall plates. The tab is just gone in some cases since it split and disintegrated off of the screw, and no, the soap is not the cause. I had some early ones break before I used the soap trick. Carlon uses aluminum tabs on their low voltage boxes, so why not here? Hey Carlon, here's a suggestion. How about using aluminum tabs on these, raise the price 10 cents, and make 9/1/2 cents more profit on each box? You can even label the box as "professional" or "contract" grade to justify the price difference. September 29, 2013
