Not Really, you CAN hook up a conventional thermostat to a carrier infinity system but you would lose a great many functions you don't even know are in play. The infinity is a far superior thermostat/control than any other thermostat you could buy. The new Infinity Touch (m# systxccuitw01) has wifi. This new infinity will email you if the system has a malfunction and it will also email your hvac service provider as well. You have the ability to upgrade from your old infinity control if you like. It not easy to rewire from infinity to conventional thermostat. Not only do you have to change all the low voltage wires, but you also have to change a bunch of DIP switch settings on the furnace control board. If you don't know what they do, do not attempt to rewire your self or you could cause issues you don't want.
If your system is under warranty definitely don't touch the system or it could end up voiding your warranty because improperly trained individuals working/modified the system.
A new infinity control is going to be released I the next year and you could probably pick up the infinity touch a a good bargain when it's released. Read Less

Answer:
Technically yes, but it makes no sense to buy an Infinity furnace or air conditioner and not buy an Infinity thermostat to match. The reason being a non Infinity thermostat will not allow the advanced features of the Infinity furnace or air conditioner to work properly or not at all.

I would tend to say as many as you want to create.
After your initial settings, you're prompted if you'd like to create Sleep settings. To me, that gave me the additional option the extend my set time away from the daily schedule.
After you create your Sleep setting, simply clicking on the Sleep setting button would then allow you to create an additional setting...As many as you would like.

The second part of your question seems the more accurate.
For vacation mode, clicking the touch-n-go for vacation would seem more intuitive. You would then be prompted to enter in your vacation dates / times.

IF the wifi in your home is good, then the connection to the internet works flawlessly. It is compatible with most HVAC systems (Other Theromostat require special resistors or special wiring near the equipment). You want the thermostat without hysteresis (large swings in temp catch up or overshooting a setpoint). You may want the ability to control internal humidity, it can with the right humidstat control). It is a stable product. It does not have geofencing.

I have had the COR in my home for alittle over a year and have been generally pleased with it. When I initially bought it going in I knew it was not Apple Homekit compatible, but had high hopes that the app and/or hardware would be upgraded to enable it. I have read recently that it is Homekit compatilbe but am having difficulty either getting it to work or finding away to upgrade firmware. So 4 stars. Installation was not as intuitive as their advertising made it seem. Setup of the wifi and web access was simple, which allows access by smart phone and via browser on my computer. I have a new home with a new Carrier heat pump and intiallly had it wired wrong which I didn't find out til the next day when I traveled out of town for work, leaving wife and kids home to a house that was heating out of control into the high 80's. My wife not being technically savy was frantic, yet I was able, via my iPhone over the web to shut it off, and they had to live with a warm house for a couple of days. I was able to swap a couple of wires and it now functions properly. The interface is a little confusing and I consider myself to be very technically savvy. Setting schedules and email alerts is pretty straight forward. Setting up your touch-n-go presets is a nice touch as well. Confusion for me is how to set it to "hold" temperature which just feels clunky requiring you to set a high and low limit as opposed just one temperature, for when in auto mode I would expect it to just automatically apply a 2 or so degree buffer in either direction and apply heat or air as appropriate. It however requires you to set that buffer range yourself for which I found myself setting a tight range of about 4 degrees, basically the same result. The web portal has a cool feature which supposedly collects heating and cooling data from the COR, comparing it to the web weather data, creating a report and graphs showing gained efficiencies and cost savings. It did work early on, yet recently I looked at it and it had not gotten any data for several months even though it is connected to the wifi and I can adjust with my phone and the web portal. Overall nice thermostat but not the cheapest out there. I orginally bought a fancy Honeywell but could not get it wired corectly for my new Carrier heat pump, thus returned for the COR.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good reliable thermostat Carrier Cor Thermostat has a large touch screen interface that is not so easy to install for a layman. I had to get it installed using a technician. Once installed it takes a little bit to get used to but works flawlessly. People used to smartphones may find the icons little dated but what matters is it's functionality. It is connected using a wifi connection and can be controlled using the App. App has good features and works well with the thermostat. Just make sure that you have a c wire installed as it does not have the battery feature. If you do not have a c wire then you will have to get it installed. Overall a good purchase

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expensive but worthy Your heating and cooling system is at the center of what makes your home comfortable and also where you spend most of your money. The people at Carrier have made a thermostat that have a brain, designed to be the smarter home. It’s all about helping you keep your hard-earned money through smart energy use. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great WI-FI Thermostat This Carrier Cor thermostat is a great addition to my energy saving systems. It also features humidity readout and my local weather report. I installed it myself by first removing and taking a picture of the wiring on the old unit. I installed the new back plate and chose the larger one. When connecting the wires, I did have a question and called the tech support. The man at tech support was totally useless in helping me. He did not even try to help or redirect my call to someone else. That is why I only gave this 4 stars instead of 5. I texted my electrician pictures of the wiring and he helped. After installation, I used the guided setup for my preferences. Then I set up the wi fi on my phone to control or change my preferences from anywhere. I also registered this new thermostat.
Date published: 2015-10-26
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classy looking and functional There is really no other way to say it. This looks really sharp on the wall. The only issue I had with install is that I was mounting on a really old system without a common wire. That is required to pull power to run the unit. WiFi connection was quick and simple. If you have an unpowered thermostat now, make sure you have a C wire or easy ability to install it. If you have never used a WiFi thermostat, you will find it nice to be able to control from away from your home. I often have to leave for a few days. It is nice to be able to bump the temperature back a few hours before you get back. Saving money while you are gone with no discomfort. The app is better than other brands I have used. All in all a good system.
