Purchased this fan as a replacement for a fan that was put in the house originally. Previous fan was noisy, wobbled, and did not move enough air in the two story great room (600 sq ft). The moment I took the old fan down I realized it was an accident waiting to happen as the assembly has caused itself to self destruct. Now this is not the first Casablanca fan that we purchased. We had purchased a Panama model almost 20 years earlier and are still using it today. So, when I looked at this fan I was looking for the same superb craftsmanship and engineering that went into the Panama. I was not disappointed. Upon opening the box you can see the attention to detail that is given to the individual components. The unit comes with a short down rod so you may need to purchase a longer one depending on the application. The blade mounting assembly is sturdy and the motor spins smoothly. After reading the instructions thoroughly, the installation was quite easy. With the unique hanging assembly, the most difficult part was making sure the existing electrical box was fastened well and could support the weight of this fan. It is heavy. After attaching the hanger to the ceiling, the motor assembly simply drops into the holder and has a notch that keeps the motor from spinning the down rod. It has a ball type assemply that allows the fan to have some pivot movement without putting undue stress on the ceiling box. After attaching the wires and installing the cover, the difficult part was done. One word of advice: this fan has upward facing bulbs (eight 15 watt clear candleabra type) and are easier to put in when the blades are not installed yet. After installing the upper bulbs, adding the fixture below, and finally the blades, the fan looked great! The test was now how well the fan moved air and I guarantee you will be pleased. The model only allows for a 4 speed switch but I would be surprised if "max" was used very often. The highest speed almost causes a small hurricane! Through each of the speeds the fan is very quiet; which is what we wanted since it is installed in the main room where we talk and watch television. Overall, we have been extremely please with the fan and sure it will be in the house 20 years from now.

Although the price is high, this is a beautiful, high-quality fan. I installed the fan in my patio and couldn't be more pleased. The directions were understandable and the fan was extremely easy to install without assistance. The 68" blade span moves air well. The up and down lights provide a pleasant lighting level although they can't be controlled separately.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by STEVE POOR QUALITY FOR THE MONEY WAY TO EXPENSIVE FOR THE COST BAD VALUE
BOT FANS ARRIVED ON TIME AND WERE PROFESSIONALLY INSTALLED. BOTH FANS WERE DEFECTIVE. ONE PRODUCES A VERY LOUD HUM WHEN TURNED ON HIGH SPEED AND OTHER HAD A BASE PLATE THAT WAS VISIBLY OUT OF ALIGNMENT CAUSING THE BLADES TO WOBBEL, VERY VERY DISAPPOINTING FOR A +700 DOLLAR FAN. YOU WOULD THINK THAT THE QUALITY CONTROL WOULD BE BETTER THAN THIS. WILL NOT REORDER SAME PRODUCT DUE TO THIS EXPERIENCE.
