Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lilkatzen GREAT cabinet - Looks great and seems well built
I purchased this cabinet from Home Depot with not a lot of high expectations because some of the reviews were negative regarding the quality of the cabinet and because it was so reasonably priced (got it on sale for $187) but I LOVE the cabinet and I get a lot of compliments on it.
I will say that it is a bit challenging to put together. It appears that some of the instructions maybe incorrect as I think somebody pointed out but nothing tragic.
The cabinet is made of solid wood and good quality pressboard and veneer. I also saw comments about the fact that the cabinet is not all solid wood. But those are unfair comments because if solid wood is what people are looking for, they should expect to spend at least $1,000 for a cabinet like this in solid wood.
I used several coats of fast drying clear polyurethane (Varathane / semi-gloss) and sanded each coat with 00 steel wool and finished with 0000 steel wool to protect the wood which really brought out the natural depth of the wood grain and gave the wood a nice silky shine.
The cabinet came out super nice! I put a thin sheet of plexiglass over the top to give the cabinet even more protection because I use the cabinet to hold a 5 gallon jug of water and a coffee maker.
In the pictures that I have attached, I tried to capture the depth of the wood which is not easy to do so I hope that you can get an idea of how nice this cabinet looks.
The colors in the images vary depending on the lighting at the time the image was taken but the image with the coffee maker and 5 gallon jug on it is most accurate to the color after I applied the clear polyurethane which darkened the cabinet just a tad from what it looked like when in it's unfinished state.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Angel Thin materials, cheaply made, expensive prive. Directions were poorly written
I've assembled furniture for many years, and this was the worst item I have ever seen. The door panels and drawer base were paper thin, the shelves cheap wood. It's embarrassing to even use the piece. The instructions were laughable. They should get an item from a certain Swedish competitor and compare; try color coding the items. It was a waste of time using the directions Home Depot provided.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by ZippersMom Decent Island for the $
This island is decent for the $ but I'm not sure how it will hold up with regular use. The back panel arrived damaged (corner split due to box being dropped) and I had to add wood glue and a clamp before assembling the island. I just didn't want to bother with returning the product. So far, this seemed like an acceptable fix. It took some adjustment to get the doors to shut properly. The drawer assembly went in easier than other reviewers experienced.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Lizzy Attractive but poorly made
We had no trouble putting together this cabinet, and it looks nice in our kitchen. However, the front plate of the drawer fell off and badly bruised my foot. The use of cams to hold in the drawer front plate is not ideal given the vibrating nature of opening and closing, which happens often as we're using it as our utensil drawer.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by frustrated2 Not the best product...
The instructions that came with this were extremely POOR, & we had to use our own logic to figure it out. The drawer is a piece of garbage...too flimsy & doesn't open smoothly.
When we had the entire cabinet put together & ready to put the drawer in place, as per the instructions, there was NO WAY to get the drawer in, & we had to take the cabinet partially apart in order to put in the drawer.
THEN, the drawer would NOT OPEN!! So we had to take the cabinet apart again (take off the two front braces & the doors), & we had to move the metal drawer slides up higher inside the cabinet. The instructions were wrong in their original placement.
The drawer STILL doesn't slide smoothly or even open all the way. Even with the poor instructions, the big negative about this cabinet is the poor quality drawer & being told to put the drawer in last. You MUST put the drawer in FIRST...before you put the top on the cabinet would be the best time.
