Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by secordpd Very well made for the price!
It is not all solid wood, but the major 3 walls are a very well made press board with wood veneer and the screws/connectors make the island very sturdy! All other pieces (doors, drawer fronts & sides) are solid wood. The directions are a complete pain, but if you read the directions in order and follow each step, you can figure it out. The drawer glides were challenging, but believe me, keep looking and you will find the correct holes for the 3 screws for each glide side.
One of the reasons I chose this is because it is made in the USA (Catskills, NY) they employee over 50 Americans, and they recycle their wood by-products into wood stove pellets.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by gb7205 Very nice island once it is assembled
I bought this island for our kitchen mostly because of the drop leaf to create a small seating area in our kitchen. There is room for one bigger stool or maybe two small ones but it might be tight for actually eating a meal versus appetizers for entertaining. This cabinet is really challenging to put together. I had a neighbor who has actually built cabinets and is a wood craftsman help me and it took us about 5 1/2 hours working together to assemble the unit. The directions were complicated, as others have commented, but once we got all the pieces sorted out and started, it got easier. This is not a project for an amateur builder and if my neighbor hadn't helped me there is no way in the world I'd have been able to assemble this myself. But, now that it is done, it is lovely and practical and has great storage space. Worth the effort to do this project for sure because everyone likes to sit at the island while I'm cooking in the kitchen. The quality is great and I only wish it were a few inches bigger for more table space.

Directions on how to put it together is not that great. Was very confusing. We are fairly knowledgeable on how to put these type of things together and we really had to stop and think before proceeding to the next step to make sure it was correct. Item list shows one size of screw and then when you get to that step, it says to use another size that you don't have. We ended up having to go to a hardware store to get a few screws that we needed. Did not want to wait 24 hours to get a replacement. Great idea to use mineral oil on all wood parts before putting it together. Drawer bottoms need to be a little more durable. We are not sure how much weight they will take.

Great looking product. Nice and sturdy. Only downfall is the instructions are horrible and no pieces of this product are labeled or numbered. Makes it very difficult to put together. Product itself is very nice once you finally get thru the horrible instructions and put together. I would recommend that you have the store assemble it.

Our Son-in-law put it together; had no problems. Best feature is the fold-up extra top space. When having company for dinner, it really helped.

Time consuming and tricky to assemble even for the wood worker assembling it.
Suggest putting numbers on pieces and follow with directions accordingly.

I was disappointed in the quality of the finished product and the poor woods used.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by NeeNee Perfect for a small kitchen. Looks amazing!
This kitchen island surpassed my expectations in every way. It is attractive, extremely functional and versatile and provides an incredible amount of storage space. It is a great piece of furniture.
The only downside is the assembly in general. The directions weren't concise and it took several hours (4-5) to put it together. We were definitely not counting on it being a big project. But all in all, totally worth the bit of labor for the end result.
