What is the depth with drop leaf down?

I need a cabinet more shallow than a countertop of 27". This gives the depth as 26' but is that with the drop leaf up or down?

What type of material are the drawer bottoms made of?

What type of material are the drawer bottoms made of?
Asked by: Rita
It is made of a thin sheet of plywood. Probably about an 1/8" thick. Wouldn't want to put heavy stuff in them. We use them for bread and they work fine. At least they are not cardboard.

Natural Kitchen Cart With Drawer is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very well made for the price! It is not all solid wood, but the major 3 walls are a very well made press board with wood veneer and the screws/connectors make the island very sturdy! All other pieces (doors, drawer fronts & sides) are solid wood. The directions are a complete pain, but if you read the directions in order and follow each step, you can figure it out. The drawer glides were challenging, but believe me, keep looking and you will find the correct holes for the 3 screws for each glide side. One of the reasons I chose this is because it is made in the USA (Catskills, NY) they employee over 50 Americans, and they recycle their wood by-products into wood stove pellets.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Quality Way too much money for the quality !!! The fit of the drawers is the biggest issue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks good Directions on how to put it together is not that great. Was very confusing. We are fairly knowledgeable on how to put these type of things together and we really had to stop and think before proceeding to the next step to make sure it was correct. Item list shows one size of screw and then when you get to that step, it says to use another size that you don't have. We ended up having to go to a hardware store to get a few screws that we needed. Did not want to wait 24 hours to get a replacement. Great idea to use mineral oil on all wood parts before putting it together. Drawer bottoms need to be a little more durable. We are not sure how much weight they will take.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for a small kitchen. Looks amazing! This kitchen island surpassed my expectations in every way. It is attractive, extremely functional and versatile and provides an incredible amount of storage space. It is a great piece of furniture. The only downside is the assembly in general. The directions weren't concise and it took several hours (4-5) to put it together. We were definitely not counting on it being a big project. But all in all, totally worth the bit of labor for the end result.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Catskill Craftsmen40 in. Mid-Sized Drawer Island 1521 Solid wood and quality plywood veneer shelves with edge banding. Lower drawers use roller bearing glides, upper drawer uses wheel and flange type glides. Assembly uses strategically positioned screws and steel dowel pins and Bastion post and barrel connections. I hate particle board and this doesn't have any. Good quality for what it is but it's not comparable to fine cabinetry with rabbit and dovetail joints and won't last like they will. We aren't planning on moving this around which will weaken it over time. The instructions were fairly good providing your ability of attention to detail and fully expecting to redo a piece or other. I did have to compensate for some screws missing but I did have a few left over of a different size. I had them on hand so wasn't a problem. After it was assembled I rubbed some more mineral oil on it to preserve the finish and combat stains in the future. I'll replace the knobs and drawer pulls with matching ones for our kitchen.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Assembly is like an upper level college course Assembly is extremely challenging, I would recommend a professional. I put a lot of furniture together quite frequently, and consider myself fairly well studied and handy, but this too about 6 hours total. Also wood is not the highest quality, some cheap particle board included. Wood is also not finished so it would need some sanding/polish/etc, easily splinters with kids. Additionally there were parts missing from the box, however the company did send replacements in 24 hours, and were quite responsive. Overall I am a bit surprised Home Depot would carry this product, definitely not up to what I know of their standards and will really think twice before trusting Home Depot with similar items in the future. Assembly was one of the biggest challenges in my life, so I am keeping it as a proud and overcoming moment :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality components make a Quality Product. I assembled two of these Kitchen Islands for the kitchen at my church. All the parts were accounted for before i started the assembly. No parts missing..Yea. I used two work tables for the process. Not on the floor. The total time to start to finish was six hours. So each one took about three hours. Level of difficulty was four out of five. I took my time and the end product was very nice.
