If I was planning to do a whole closet I might be inclined to go with large sheets of flakeboard but I wanted to just line an existing closet that had a closet organizer already installed and I didn't want to have to go to the trouble of removing it. The smaller 16" x 48" sheets provided worked well for my needs.
Cedar flake board is the cheapest material to line a closet with cedar. It's not the prettiest way to do it and the flakeboard has a rough texture but I wasn't very concerned with the appearance since it's just a closet and it will be mostly obscured by clothing. These cedar flakeboards give me the benefits of a cedar lined closet at a fraction of the cost of cedar boards.
I only lined the areas around the hanging sections of the closet organizer as seen in the photo. Installation was quick and easy. The boards cut easily with a jig saw but leave a lot of chips as you cut. If you can manage to collect the chips you can wrap them up in cheesecloth and use it in a drawer. The cutoff peices were too small to use on the wall but they're a good size to line drawers and shelves. The boards are thin so be careful because they can chip or break if you're not careful but they're sturdy enough that they won't dissintegrate as you're working with them.
Tools I used for installation were: tape measure, pencil, straightedge, jig saw, stud finder nailgun and a power screwdriver to remove some of the components of the closet organizer.
Even though I didn't line all the walls the closet has that nice cedar smell and installation only took a couple of hours. Most of it seemed to be spent walking up and down the stairs to my cutting area.

Better than expected. Read some reviews before purchase, so I felt I was making a 50/50 gamble. Easy to work with, panels size was perfect for my project. I used TN heavy duty glue. I finished my project in under two hours. The smell is good and strong. As soon as you open closet, smell pops out at you. Girlfriend loves it. I'm ordering two more boxes to do two more closets. I definetly recomment this product. Remember to measure twice and cut once.

The Red Cedar Flake board was exactly as described and I'm very pleased with it. The cedar aroma is wonderful and fills my closet. With time, I know it will fade but I'll lightly sand it, as suggested in an article I read years ago, to bring the aroma back. I plan to order more of the paks for my other closets.

Pros: inexpensive, smells great, small, easy to handle panels
Cons: Panels are not quite the same size - might be a problem if you want to cover a bigger area, especially that edges are not straight (there might be gaps when you lay them side by side). Some panels are crumbly around the edges, making trimming difficult. Quality from panel to panel is inconsistent.
To summarize - might be ok for a small project, like around some shelves, or small areas. If you want to line a bigger closet, I'd recommend looking for bigger 4x8 panels, which seem to be of better quality, at just a couple of dollars more.

I used the cedar board to line a chest I madw for my daughter's wedding memorabilia. I was very pleased with the use of the product. It cut well, installed easily and looked and smelled great. It will be protecting my daughter's wedding dress for many years to come.

I purchased two packages of board to replace some damaged 4x8 sheets. All of the new panels were of consistent size and quality. Great aroma. Am looking for other ways to use these sheets...will buy again!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by WWLJr Panels were inconsistent in size, thickness and not labeled for inside/outside.
Panels were supposed to be 16X48. Some were up to 16 1/2 and thickness varied as well. Not pleased when planning for the closet was off by the variance in the panels. Also the video on the vendor site showed there was a right side to have out to the closet and one against the wall. This was not labeled and difficult to discern in low light.
These did work and seemed to be one of the best values for the purpose.
