Answer:
You should be able to use any of the panels made for drop ceilings. I have used a couple of different styles, and never had a problem.

Answer:
Yes, you can use almost any 2' x 2' tile, or 2' x 4' tile. The Sahara tile is like what I used-- it lets the T-bar be recessed a little bit. That looks nice, but at the edges of the ceiling and wherever you have to cut the tiles, it will not be recessed, which makes it just a little less perfect when you look closely.

Can I buy individual runners and top hangers?

The kit covers 64 square feet. Using two kits I will still be short 1 hanger and 1 runner. I do not plan to buy a third kit for 2 pieces. If I can't get individual pieces I guess I will have to abandon the product and go another route

Answer:
I would think so, you might need to lightly sand them first, or use paint suitable for plastic. It's like PVC plastic.

Yes, they could be painted, but PVC needs a little bit of prep work before painting with either acrylic or latex paint.

Yes, we had them before in our last house and they are fairly easy to remove by pulling on the hanger that snaps in.

Answer:
Yes, I installed this system at my previous property and will be installing at my new house in the next couple of weeks. You may be able to move the cross tees to slide out one tile or more. Or you can pop out the runner and then slide out several tiles. I am over 6 foot and in a older home this is a great product to use.

Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 15 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best cover up ever. Very easy to use, this was the second time I have used this product. First time was a basement ceiling, this time was to cover up an ugly bathroom ceiling. It is very easy to install, even for a person working on their own. Mounts directly to the existing ceiling or unfinished joists so there is minimal loss of height. December 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy This product is exactly what I needed. Moved into a house with a big basement that needed some finishing although it looked like was ready for a ceiling. Not a drop ceieling but something else. Since I am not a carpenter I saw this product and tried it. it easy to use. bi didn't even have to use a drill. I used a driver with Phillips instead and did not drive them into the drywall. Instead I put the screws in 2 x 4w which worked perfectly without a problem. I would say to make sure you measure and keep the rails straight. it looks flimsy but once you have the parts in place seems very sturdy. it holds 2 4 ceiling tiles with no problem. December 13, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Hanging system This was my first time hanging ceilings and it is simple to do. The trick is do row by row and mount the ceiling as u finish each cross T so u can adjust as u reach the end and dont have to be exact measurements. I will highly recommend this ceiling. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to use Very easy to use, we attached it to the garage trusses with dry wall scews. August 12, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Just what I needed For a "drop" ceiling without the drop, as I needed in my basement, this was the ideal solution. The vinyl top rails fasten directly to your ceiling joists, and then the tiles are held up with a T rail that is pushed into the mounted top rail, and stays. If you need to remove a tile later, with some work you can pull down the T rail. The vinyl is fairly flexible, so it is sometimes hard to press the T rail in-- it is best when you can reach above the top rail and push from both sides. For that reason, and because the tiles must be slid into place, you absolutely must work progressively, from one side to the other. The cross-bars are barely held in place, so the distance between the top rails should be carefully measured. Wear protective gear when you score and snap the tiles! I am very happy with the way it turned out. September 30, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Essentially unsuitable for recessed tiles Okay, I went to their website and entered my required dimensions and it told me how many kits I needed. Everything was going fine until I discovered that you cannot use a full size tile for anything that borders an edge. The reason for this is that the cross-pieces are 24" long and won't reach under the edge pieces. They end where a normal 2'x2' tile ends. With regular flat tiles you can just jam everything under or cut to fit if the border tiles are under 2'. If you are using tiles that extend below the grid (decorative PVC tiles) you need to order special 25" cross-pieces. My project is on a timetable and I don't have time to wait AND I don't intend to spend additional money on something I shouldn't have to. In order to complete my project I am going to have to modify the border-touching cross-pieces with a slight 1/2 lip to hang from the edge piece. This experience wasted a lot of my time and patience. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor quality control I bought 6 boxes of 64 Sq ft kits to do my garage. 3 of my 6 kits had incomplete parts, delayed my project by weeks getting replacements. I'm pretty handy and this product does not install very easily, like they show on their website. It will be very difficult to remove and replace tiles in the future. October 13, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor design This product was the only thing available at my local Home Depot. I gave it a shot and found it a pain to install. You only lost a small amount of ceiling height however if you want all of your Joints to fit snug you must trim each ceiling tile about 1/4 to 1/2". Plus the tiles are difficult to install once you reach the end of the grid. I would recommend using the traditional hanging style drop ceiling. September 22, 2015
