Product Overview

Decorative strips in easy-to-clean white, our most popular color, are designed to cover drop ceiling grid in suspended installations and the joints between ceiling tiles in glue/nail up installations. Self-adhesive and easy to trim with household scissors. These strips make the grid/joints disappear, leaving nothing to detract from the new beautifully crafted, custom ceiling.

  • Made from 0.030 thick virgin vinyl material, with the highest quality adhesive, grid tape will not rust, stain or corrode and will resist mold, mildew and bacteria
  • Works great on 1 in. suspended ceiling grid systems - recommend quantity is one case for every 10 2 ft. x 2 ft. panels
  • Decorative strips are 24 in. long, sold in cases of 25
  • Excellent for remodeling to make your old grid look like new or new construction where you want your grid to perfectly match your panels
  • In glue-up installation, use to cover the seams where the panels meet

Can I use them as Door Panel Moulding? Are they stick to wood doors?

Can I use them as Door Panel Moulding? Are they stick to wood doors?
Asked by: Ben
At Ceilume we've done extensive testing of the Deco-Strip Self-Adhesive Decorative strips to make sure they'll stick to vinyl ceiling tiles and metal ceiling grids. We haven't done any testing for wood and do not recommend using them on wood doors.

Will this stick to glass?

I need to add grid lines to my windows for my HOA and want to find a cheap and easy way to do this. Wondering if this product will stick to my windows.
Asked by: MrzMarie
Ceilume Deco-Strips have been extensively tested for their adhesion to vinyl tiles and ceiling grids. When installation instructions are followed, the Deco-Strips work wonderfully. However, we have done no testing for adhesion to glass and suspect that Deco-Strips will not stick to a window due to the large temperature swings that glass must endure.

Customer reviews say the strips fall down after a few weeks. What kind of glue do you recommend

putting them up with on a metal ceiling grid to avoid this problem? Also do these white strips match all the Ceilume white ceiling tiles? I am looking at the Oxford and Fleur-de-lise tiles.
Asked by: kinsey
Ceilume Deco-Strips have a peel and stick, self-adhesive backing and are made from the exact same vinyl material as the Ceiling tiles. We have done extensive testing here at our plant to find the best adhesive available. During that testing, we have had to resort to weighting one end of the strips to make them fail when installed per manufacturer's installation instructions. If you do not follow the instructions, the Deco-Strips will fail. Two steps are crucial: 1) Clean the grid prior to installation, even if it is new grid. 2) Install the Deco-Strips prior to installing the tiles. This allows you to get a good "pinch" and apply positive pressure from above and below the grid for a proper seating of the adhesive along the entire length of the strip.

ceiling strips

how many strips will it take for 478 square feet. and how much glue will it take.
Asked by: scottlarsen
You will need one bundle of Deco-Strips for every 10 ceiling tiles you are installing. 478 sq ft works out to a minimum of 120 tiles so you would need at least 12 bundles of Deco-Strips. Ceilume Ceiling Tile Adhesive is sold 6 tubes to a case. Each tube contains enough adhesive to install about 6 tiles . To install 120 tiles, you would need to 4 cases of Ceilume Ceiling Tile Adhesive. Make sure you use the free Ceilume Clean-Cut Caulk Cutter (1 free with purchase of Ceilume adhesive) to make sure you get the right size bead of glue.

Customer Reviews

24 in. x 1 in. Deco-Strips White Self-Adhesive Decorative Strips (25 Strips/Bundle) is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice looking strips I bought this for our white ceilume tile a few months ago. While it certainly makes the tiles look much better and more stylish, the adhesive in the strips dont adhere for too long. After a few days of being placed, some of the strips fell. Had to put glue on it for it to stick. Otherwise im contented with the product especially the white ceilume tiles in the basement.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The strip didn't stick very well and it actually made... The strip didn't stick very well and it actually made the ceiling look worse. All it did was make more seams.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Mixed blessings This product looked fabulous when we first put them up. All the ones around the perimeter of the ceiling tiles fell down in a matter of days. We used PL fast grab to glue them back up and that has been great. Now all the other ones are falling down. This is a definate worthwhile investment if you are doing a glue up ceiling and it looks great when they are up. If you buy them, get some PL fast grab instead of relying on its adhesion. We have to rip down all the ones that have not fallen down and glue them up, as it is just a matter of time before they all fall down- so save yourself the time and just glue them up the first time! Reason for 2 stars: Love them when up but do not appreciate having to redo work. When something is self adhesive, I don;t want to have to glue them all back up later. We have had so many fall down that we recognize the sound without having to see it fall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from this is definetely needed This was a saving grace for me it definitely helps cover seams and mistakes . You get 25 strips and they get used believe me. The only problem I had was I added glue to the pre-stick strip because they didn't stick well and I used them in my shower on the ceiling.
