Product Overview

Celestial in easy-to-clean sand, our subtlest color, creates repeating patterns of beautiful intersecting circles across the expanse of your ceiling for a design effect that is truly unique. Use them as feature panels or border panels they even work as lay-under re-facing panels for suspended ceiling and drop ceiling installations where you want to leave your existing mineral fiber acoustical panels in place. Much easier to work with, safer to handle and less expensive to purchase than real tin, you can buy and install these panels with ease and confidence knowing that Ceilume panels are backed by the highest quality, safety and environmental standards.

  • Made throughout from durable 0.030 thick sand virgin vinyl material, these panels will not rust, stain, corrode or be effected by water or humidity and they resist mold, mildew and bacteria
  • Beauty of authentic tin, only better, no special tools or skills required for installation and no sheet metal cuts
  • Impact resistant ceiling panels are 2 ft. x 2 ft. (actual size 23.75 in. x 23.75 in.) and each panel covers a 4 sq. ft. area
  • ASTM-E84 Class A fire rated, IAPMO UES ER-310 recognized compliant with 2006, 2009 and 2012 International Building Code and FDA compliant for food preparation areas
  • Excellent for remodeling or new construction, these elegant decorative ceiling panels trim easily with scissors or a matte knife for can light openings, etc.
  • GREENGUARD Environmental Institute Certified for Indoor Air Quality and Children and Schools and fully recyclable
  • As durable as they are attractive, Celestial creates a graceful, repeating pattern that is unlike anything tin ceiling panels or standard mineral fiber ceiling panels have to offer
  • NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient) 25% (35% with AcoustoTherm Back Panel)
  • When used in conjunction with AcoustoTherm Back Panel R-Value Up = 0.8, R-Value Down = 0.9
  • For your partial grid squares, where the ceiling meets the walls, you invert the panel and trim to size, allowing Celestial's elegant pattern to repeat - but now the features are slightly recessed, this not only accents and highlights your featured panels, it makes edge trimming to any size quick and easy
  • Single tiles not returnable - returns only accepted as 6 packs
  • Each case contains 6 individual tiles that covers 24 sq. ft.

Answer:
The Ceilume Celestial in Sand is an opaque tile that does not allow light to transmit through it. You can install can lights in the tile; just use a can light housing with brackets that will place the weight of the can light on the ceiling grid.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sample Program Worked Great For Picking Color I like that I can get samples to check out how the colors and finishes look, because sometimes it is hard to tell on the computer. The Sand Celestial worked out great for me, 'cause I wanted to keep the room bright, but wanted something a little different than white. June 7, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Sand = white I was disappointed when I received this product because I thought sand meant a light tan color. It seemed pretty white to me. I only got one tile for a sample. I ended up returning it because of the color. September 28, 2012
