Use them as feature panels or border panels - they even work as lay-under re-facing panels for suspended ceiling and drop ceiling installations where you want to leave your existing mineral fiber acoustical panels in place. These classically designed traditional ceiling panels also work great in glue-up and direct mount ceiling applications, converting your flat ceiling into a thing of beauty. Much easier to work with, safer to handle and less expensive to purchase than real tin, you can buy and install these panels with ease and confidence knowing that Ceilume panels are made in the USA and backed by the highest quality, safety and environmental standards.

Customer Questions & Answers

The faux tin panels state they are not for installation

Could I use these for craft purposes? Specifically, can they be cut with tin snips or scissors and they won't split. Will the plastic hold a latex paint? thanks Marty
Asked by: batterbatter
Marty, I cut out 2 of the square tiles to cover a hole in an old speaker unit. Vinyl is easy to cut with regular scissors. I painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint which sticks to anything. Then used dark wax to bring out the embellishment. Hope that helps! mb

Customer Reviews

Fleur-de-lis Faux Tin Evaluation Sample, Not suitable for installation - 2 ft. x 2 ft. Lay-in or Glue-up Ceiling Panel is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing, simple, beautiful I am an avid DIYer who frequently fails in my forays into the do it yourself world. These tiles, however, were so simple and just beautiful. You will need a partner to help you place them, this is not a one person job. I would strongly recommend using the tape over the seams and not the strips- the strips were difficult to use and there were to many cuts to be visually pleasing. I did call the company that makes ceilume tiles prior to beginning. They helped to reassure me. The customer service representative was very helpful and kind.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from plastic It's actually plastic or a some kind of vinyl. I thought it was going to have more tin characteristics.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Faux Tin as Upcycle Solution Anyone who upcycles used furniture and home decor will appreciate this faux tin. Easy to cut, paint and secure to wood, the panel squares can be used to add embellishment to any piece. In my case, I used it to cover a hole in the back of a former speaker being upcycled to a nightstand. I used liquid nails and a few finishing nails to secure it to the piece. Then a quick coat of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, followed with both clear and dark wax to enhance the fleur-de-lis detail. The finished look was exactly what I was looking for. And so inexpensive!
