Whay is the difference be an up flow and a down flow? Also my old boiler has an imput of 100,000 and an out put of 80,000. Will I be able to replace it with this one?
Asked by: Bonnie
Not to be rude, but just to make sure we are on the same page lets define some terms. A furnace is a device that heats air and the that air is circulated as a heat source. Boilers heat water and the resulting water or steam is used to heat the structure. They are completely different modes of heat. With a furnace, Sometimes it is installed on the floor and the hot air leaves through the top. This is called an up flow. In other designs, such as mobile homes, the duct work will be below the floor and the furnace. So a down flow is often used. This is a furnace where the hot air leaves through the bottom. There are also horizontal furnaces where the cold air comes in one side and the hot air leaves through the other. Thus a proper knowledge of what is being replaced is needed to make a correct decision

Can we get this unit configured for downflow?

Asked by: Fisch5
This is an up flow furnace. Century does have a down flow series that you can see on there web site. It is the GDD80 series. Feel free to call me if you have questions. Please note this is not a mobile home furnace. Chris 978 651 3301
