Customer Questions & Answers

Is this one certified for mobile home use??

I have a 1440 Sq Ft mobile home I need to keep warm :))
Asked by: JG
I am not in position to know what certifications your state requires for furnaces being installed in mobile homes. However I can tell you from my experience this not the type of unit used in those applications. Typically mobile homes have there duct work below the floor and a very small space for the furnace. When the mobile homes are designed and built they most common furnace used is ones produced under the brand name Miller by a company called Nordyne. They discharge there heat through the bottom, Most them can also be converted to use different types of fuels; depending on what is available where the home is located. The Home Depot does have these furnaces on its site.

I I will install furnace in 700 ft. basement venting it to upstairs which is 700 ft. also. Will this heat both areas satisfactorly?

Asked by: Cowboy
I can't answer that definitively as I do not have the nessasary info on the 1400 square feet you are trying to heat. There are hear loss programs on line that will allow you to put in specific info about the structure and where it is located and will give you the amount of BTU's you need. I would start by Googling "heat loss calculator" A number of programs will come up. I use them all the time.

What is the price range for installation of the replacement of a gas furnace in a mobile home. Current system is in a closet.
Asked by: wally
Mobile homes typically use very specific furnaces designed for mobile home use; not just any residential furnace. They are special in that they can often be changed to use different fuels depending on where the home is placed. Also they typically discharge out the bottom as the duct work is usually below the floor. The most common unit I have seen are branded Miller and are made by Nortec. They are usually in a closet. Typically it takes a day to for a trades person to install. So the cost should reflect a days labor for a trades person in your area plus additional materials needed; such as permits, inspections, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice furnace, easy installation Easy install with no issues, wired and fired up. very plased with my purchase. I went to Lowe's and they would not sell me a furnace without me contracting one of their installers. Retired and wanting to help my sister save money she did not have, and having previous experience and training on furnace installation I was able to purchase here at TheHome Depot. I now spend more time purchasing item's here because of they were able to help me to help my sister.
