Questions & Answers

Is the warentee voided if installed by homeowner?

This is replacement of existing equivalent oil furnace
Asked by: SteveE
To the best of my knowledge some states require that work only be done by licensed contractors and inspected; even in your own home. Others do not. I would suggest you reach out to the code enforcement person in your area first. As to warranties they are voided by incorrect installation and actions. I can;t see how they would be voided by professional status considering there is no national standard. I know that some manufactures put language in that suggest this however it has never made sense to me. On a more serious note. Home heating oil can burn very dirty if a draft test is not done. Meaning if the air/fuel mixture is not calibrated to your installation and venting configuration. This must be done with combustion test equipment. Not by eye. Every contractor I know calls in a oil professional to commission a new piece of oil equipment. They will use combustion test equipment to dial in the flame. This will help ensure safe and efficient operation. I would never fire off any oil equipment without having a oil tech on site . I would also never consider doing electrical work and not having it inspected by a trained electrical inspector. That is just a good practice.

installation

Can you quote me a ballpark figure on installation cost? Thanks. AJ Riley
Asked by: AJ
I am not sure if you are asking me to guess on the initial installation of a oil fired how air system or the change out of a furnace. So I can't even offer a guess. But you are welcome to call me and describe your needs so that I can give you some advise. Chris 978 651 3301

Will this hot air furnace heat my space

I'm thinking of buying this Patroits 80. 90,000 btu high boy oil hot air furnace...I would like to know if you think it will heat my space of 860 sq. ft with. 10ft. Ceiling height....
Asked by: Kay
I can not answer definitively as you have not given me enough info to do a heat loss calculation on the structure. So for example I don;t know if you are in Florida or Alaska which will obviously effect your need for heat. However you are welcome to give me a call and we can talk. Also i can tell you it is very difficult to burn home heating oil in small increments. Most people who burn #2 oil have much more capacity than they need. chris 978 651 3301

will it take an aircondition unit

evaporator
Asked by: dad
When equipping this style of furnace with air conditioning you do not install anything in the furnace. The A-Coil where the heat is absorbed is put above the furnace in the discharge duct work. This piece of duct work that holds the coil and transitions from the furnace to the duct trunk is called the plenum. It is tide by the refrigerant lines, called a line set, to the condenser that is outside the house. So when installed with AC the furnace will be wired to act as an air handler during the summer months. The blower will come on but not the burner. As the air goes through the A coil the heat is absorbed by the refrigerant. It is pumped out side where the heat is squeezed out by the condenser. If you have further questions please feel free to give me a call. Chris 978 651 3301
