do I need pvc pipe when putting it in blocks ?

Asked by: Erik
You don't need to put the landscape wire in pvc piping unless you are constantly digging in the area where you have placed your landscape lighting. If you should cut the landscape wire you will not be harmed due to the low voltage in the wiring. Not sure what you mean about blocks. If you are covering the wire with blocks you will not need to use pvc piping.

100 ft. 12/2 Black Stranded Landscape Lighting Wire is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good cable for patio/garden lighting This wire is top quality for low voltage lighting in commercial and personal setup. The PVC jacket does not require any further protection when buried in the ground and that is very functional in the areas with field mice problem. I am in hardscaping trade and I have seen plenty of cables. 12 gauge offers a lot of copper and that means less droppage of volts when running long lengths. Also, when buying the wire connectors, pay attention to the minimum and maximum wire capacity. I always recommend starting with lowest gauge possible since it gives you flexibility to upgrades or add more lights later (of course never exceeding the volt capacity and that in this case is 150 volts). I like everything this cables offers and highly recommend it to DIYers and pros.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Quality Landscape Wire The Cerro 100 ft. 12/2 Black Stranded Landscape Lighting Wire can be used for commercial or residential projects. The insulation seems thicker than that of other brands, but not too thick to fit most snap connectors. This outdoor LV wire can handle a wide range of temperatures and is both resistant to sunlight and soil degradation allowing for either above or below ground installation. The wire comes in a coil and seems more flexible than other landscape wires I’ve worked with and generally needs less convincing to stay where it is placed. I did need to give the connectors an extra squeeze to make contact. I’m pleased with this wire and I would definitely recommend the Cerro 12/2 Black Stranded Landscape Lighting Wire to a friend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent landscape lighting wire This landscape lighting wire is quite flexible even though it has heavy insulation and is ideal for direct bury. The black cable color makes it easy to hide in your landscape bed. The cable is ribbed on one side to let you determine the polarity of the wire and keep it the same along the entire cable run. This cord carries power over long distances without a noticeable drop-off and can be used safely with higher voltage transformers. The average cord that comes with most sets is generally a 16/2 cord which is fine for distances for less than 50 feet and 100Volt but it severely restrains power to each light above either of those measurements.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality cable for outdoor lights. The cable is perfect for my low voltage outdoor flood lights. It is thick yet very easy to handle. I face no trouble turning and looping it around with the jacket on. It sits nicely where I place it and does not fight back. My light’s wires have easy-to-use built-in clips to attach to this wire. I in fact have them cut so I can use silicone filled connectors for better protection. The wire jacket is resistant to weather elements and can be buried without any additional protection. That’s a cost saver and makes my project simple and easy. It’s a quality product with great price and I recommend it with confidence.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice flexible heavy wire I was using this wire in January and was surprised at how flexible it remained in the cold. The 12 gauge wire is great for long runs of low voltage. The jacket is really tough despite being thin on the bottom. I am not entirely sure why it is like that unless it allows the wire to lay flatter. I like that this wire can be buried since it really needs to go underground for decorative lighting. Great stuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job! Cerrowire 100 ft. 12/2 Black Stranded Landscape Lighting Wire is good-quality low-voltage lighting cable. The PVC jacket zips and strips easily on the first try. I no longer use insulation displacement quick connects, but the jacket feels pliable enough the quick connects will work well. In my application with hubs or grease-filled wire nuts, the cable works perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 12/2 Black Stranded Landscape Lighting Wire My husband is a electrician and he works on lots of projects with the wire he gets. He can pretty much make anything and run wiring for lights, plugs, and etc. He has put lights in all of our buildings with plugs to. Everything works very well no problems with the wire that we got for the projects. A great wire to work with if you are going to use for landscape.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Scape wire A good gauge wire for more then just a few landscape lights. In the 30ft stretch along my driveway I currently have a light every 3 feet and the wire holds up fine with no voltage drop and could probably add a few more lights as well. Insulation seems to be a good quality as well, wire is very flexible and still holds well. Looks thick enough top last a while.
