Answer:
Thank you for contacting Cerro with your product inquiry. The difference between these is that quad shielded RG-6 has 4 layers of shielding in the outer conductor. This would be 2 layers of foil and 2 layers of tighter braided shielding. Thank you for contacting Cerro with your product inquiry. The difference between these is that quad shielded RG-6 has 4 layers of shielding in the outer conductor. This would be 2 layers of foil and 2 layers of tighter braided shielding. The advantage of quad shield cable is that it prevents ingress (RF signals leaking onto the cable) that could result in picture distortion (ghosting or small lines diagonally across the picture). For internet access, RF ingress can cause high bit error rates, resulting in poor performance of your high-speed internet. But, quad shield RG-6 has the same attenuation properties as standard RG-6. We certainly hope this helps and answers your questions. Feel free to contact us again if you need further assistance! Read Less

Answer:
RG6 is not rated to be used in an outdoor environment. It is recommended that the wire be enclosed in a conduit to protect it from the weather. You can use RG6 to splice into your existing satllite dish cable.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by RG6 Quad Shield Coax - it works as described Purchased this cable as part of a Cable TV to FIOS conversion. Basically it is a decent cable and installed easily with the compression connectors available at HD. The cable worked well for both new drops and a temporary connection for the cable modem until the service was later disconnected. April 3, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exactly what I needed. Bought this to run in wall for coaxial audio to my home theater subwoofers. Works perfect and with the correct fittings and a clamp tool it makes installation a breeze and professional looking. Cable quality is excellent, shielding is more than adequate. March 27, 2012
