Product Overview

This 600-Volt, grounded, jacketed cable wire is used primarily in residential wiring, including branch circuits for outlets, switches, etc. It may be installed in both exposed and concealed work in normally dry locations, and in air voids of masonry block or tile walls which are not subject to excessive moisture or dampness. It can be installed in locations with temperatures up to 90 Degree C but with the ampacity limited to that of 60 Degree C conductors. The added circuit is for use primarily in residential wiring for branch circuits supplying outlets located in bedrooms and other areas.

Customer Questions & Answers

is this wire equivalent to ROMEX of same specs? most folks refer to wire as "ROMEX".

I am thinking that the term ROMEX is just a referral to residential wiring...
Asked by: Don
Similar specs I am sure. It is UL approved for 15 amp circuit wiring in residences and other areas were allowed by code. "Romex" is the generic name for it. Just like "Formica" is a generic name for plastic laminate.

i want to run this wire to my shed about 100 ft from home in conduit will it be ok

i want to run a light and and one outlet to use while out there 110 only will tie into existing service in home
Asked by: gopher
No. NM wire is NOT rated to be installed in wet locations. Any buried conduit system is classified as a wet location. Either run type UF cable without putting it in conduit, or install conduit and then pull the more typical THHN/THWN conductors through it.

Is this wire suitable for European outlets and switches of 250 Volts? I am considering buying this cable for wiring my house. Also how many feet (FT)

How many feet (FT of wire) do I need for a five bedroom house? Your answers are welcome. Thank you.Paul.

Its rated for 250 volts. NM type wire is fine for wiring most residential and many commercial applications (where approved)

will this run a small hot water tank for mobile home

Asked by: cameroguy
Hot water tanks should be wired in 10 gauge wire regardless of location. However, so long as your water heater does not exceed 2880 watts (small, under-cabinet style water heater) you can run it on 14 gauge wire.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good wire, good price This wire works well for 15 amp circuits and is cost effective. Don't use this wire for anything higher than a 15 amp circuit. The outermost sheathing on this wire is a bit loose, but that actually works to your advantage. I was able to strip it away easily with just a pair of wire cutters, and I didn't have to worry about accidentally cutting the interior wires. The Interior wire sheathing was easy to strip away as well with just a pair of wire cutters. In 250ft and 30 outlets wired, I only managed to break one wire, so really pretty good quality. The wire pulled well also and didn't bind up in holes in the studs or around corners.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well known brand Cerro's been making wire forever and that's about how long I've been using their products. Their quality is excellent, their pricing is competitive and I've never had a circuit fail due to a manufacturing defect. If you need to run a 15 amp circuit, above ground and indoors, this is the wire to choose.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Simpull Romex is the way to go. This stuff has a rough texture and the sheeting is too thick. Makes it harder to pull and strip. The stuff is garbage compared to the Romex simpull brand.
