Product Overview

This 600-Volt, grounded, jacketed cable wire is used primarily in residential wiring, including branch circuits for outlets, switches, etc. It may be installed in both exposed and concealed work in normally dry locations, and in air voids of masonry block or tile walls which are not subject to excessive moisture or dampness. It can be installed in locations with temperatures up to 90 Degree C but with the ampacity limited to that of 60 Degree C conductors. The added circuit is for use primarily in residential wiring for branch circuits supplying outlets located in bedrooms and other areas.

This wire will be used to my downlights. Ok with the heat from the lamp? 90 Celsius or 194 F?

Asked by: sirfen
Depnding on which outdoor lighting you are using, you would either need to use UF wire and Low Voltage landscape wire. NM wire is not rated for outdoor use unles ran in conduit.

How heavy is the 250Ft roll? I need to ship it. Thank you

Asked by: lebh52
The coil itself weights 14.9 lbs. Any packaging (cardboard box, packing material, etc.) would be additional weight.

what size wire should i use to repace my vacuum cleaner with

I was told 18/2 but that is just lamp cord I work in a hotel and need to buy rolls of it
Asked by: man15
18 or 16 gauge can work if the vacuum cleaner doesn't exceed 10 amps. The product you asked, this 14 gauge solid wire, isn't recommended for a plug, since it isn't stranded cable. I'd recommend to use a 16 or 18 gauge 3 conductor (this includes the ground if you need it) in SJO-type wire. This type of wire is essentially extension cord wire, which is more durable than lamp cord due to it being thicker than it. It's available in rolls and per foot with or without a ground wire at your local Home Depot store. Joseph

i want to run this wire to my shed about 100 ft from home in conduit will it be ok

i want to run a light and and one outlet to use while out there 110 only will tie into existing service in home
Asked by: gopher
Thank you for contacting Cerro with your product question. For best usage, the NM-B wire is to be utilized in normally dry locations, and in air voids of masonry block or tile walls which are not subject to excessive moisture or dampness. If you are running the wire where there is potential for it to be exposed to moisture and/or buried underground , then we would suggest UF wire as a better choice.

Is this wire suitable for European outlets and switches of 250 Volts? I am considering buying this cable for wiring my house. Also how many feet (FT)

How many feet (FT of wire) do I need for a five bedroom house? Your answers are welcome. Thank you.Paul.
Asked by: Paul
14 Gauge NM is rated up to 600 Volts. Depending on how many outlets, switches, lights, etc, height of walls, number of windows to go around, etc. would greatlyimpact the amount of wire you need.

Can I use this for recessed lighting in my kitchen.

Asked by: Lou
Yes. Assuming that you are adding to an existing 15-amp circuit, or wiring a new one, 14/2 is what you should be using. Other than the wiring of any 3-way switching of course, which would require 14/3.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good wire, good price This wire works well for 15 amp circuits and is cost effective. Don't use this wire for anything higher than a 15 amp circuit. The outermost sheathing on this wire is a bit loose, but that actually works to your advantage. I was able to strip it away easily with just a pair of wire cutters, and I didn't have to worry about accidentally cutting the interior wires. The Interior wire sheathing was easy to strip away as well with just a pair of wire cutters. In 250ft and 30 outlets wired, I only managed to break one wire, so really pretty good quality. The wire pulled well also and didn't bind up in holes in the studs or around corners.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well known brand Cerro's been making wire forever and that's about how long I've been using their products. Their quality is excellent, their pricing is competitive and I've never had a circuit fail due to a manufacturing defect. If you need to run a 15 amp circuit, above ground and indoors, this is the wire to choose.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Simpull Romex is the way to go. This stuff has a rough texture and the sheeting is too thick. Makes it harder to pull and strip. The stuff is garbage compared to the Romex simpull brand.
