Asked by: none
Yes, this is exactly the type of wire needed to add a power receptacle. This is a very easy DIY project. Adding wire conduit is recommended and bury deep enough that the wire will not have any chance of being exposed by yard equipment such as edge trimmers, lawn mowers and especially garden tillers. Consider having a licensed electrician inspect work prior to first use.

Will this wire resist sunlight if hung in air between buildings?

Asked by: charles
Hi charles, Typically, UF cable (although it is outdoor rated) is placed into conduit and/or buried. Most codes dictate that while you can install UF cable, but it needs to be usually at least 8 feet above the ground. I'd recommend to consult an electrician in your area, to ensure that is safely installed. Joseph

Customer Reviews

50 ft. 12/2 UF-B Cable is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Probably overkill on my part I'm sure I could of gotten by with plain 12ga. romex or single wires, because I ran this in 3/4in. PVC. I did not want a gopher or squirrel problem so this heavier cable gave me peace of mind. It does what I intended it to do and hence the 5 stars. If it hadn't worked I would not have given it any stars. Seems like a strange item to be giving a review on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wet locations Perfect for wet locations. I know it's overkill, but I ran this through 1/2 conduit for an outdoor GFCI.
