Answer:
The manual indicates to have the feature - but it requires a special wall door opener which has the feature programmed into the wall unit.
I could not figure out how to turn it on, beyond getting a programmable wall control unit.

Yes but only from inside the garage using the emergency release handle and opening the door manually. For automatic usage when there is a power failure you need to have a model that has a battery back up system.

Don't think so, assuming soft start or stop means that door opener (movement) slows down when nearing open or closed position.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Quiet Opener This was a replacement for a Chamberlain garage door opener that was chain drive. The difference in the noise level is amazing. The belt drive garage door opener is so much quieter. The installation was easy because I used the same mounting brackets as the old one so in less than an hour it was working. I was disappointed that I couldn't use all my old remotes and the built-in remote in my ford didn't work until I purchased a Homelink bridge. The installation for that was easy as well. I am very happy with this garage door opener and would recommend it to anyone. July 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by QUIET! I could not believe just how smooth and quiet this garage door opener is! Installation was pretty straight forward. It took me a day to install but should only take a few hours if you're prepared. My only disappointment was the lack of screws, nuts & bolts and angle iron that don't come with it. Two additional trips were required to complete this installation. Tip: Definately heed the warning about reinforcing the door, especially the cheap ones that builders and house flippers typically outfit their garages with. This goes for any garage door opener. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product The garage door opener was easy to install.Works much better that are craftsmen opener.Love the quietness of the belt. July 7, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by NEW HD520EVP NOT WORKING WITH HOMELINK !!!! Watch Out: HomeLink will not compatible with any car older than 2013. It is not clear to me when buying this. I am going to take down and return this next week, will update with the brand and model that work with HomeLink July 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good overall quality and 800 support My installation was very difficult due to cross beams and low clearance of finished ceiling in my garage overhead.... other than that just follow simple instructions and/or video. I had concerns about the belt adjustment, so called 800#; no long waits; knowledgeable person walked me thru some adjustments via emailed videos. Opener has been in about a month now and is 10X quieter than old chain drive opener... very smooth and quiet. January 12, 2016
