ok, here's the deal. My husband wants me to pick up a chain and some other stuff to repair our 15yr. old ear splitting noisy garage door opener.

I refuse.

I want a newer, quieter model.

I'm not very knowledgeable about garage door openers, so can someone answer these questions for me?

Is there anything I'd need to buy to have my husband install this? He can do it.

Is it really quiet?

Do I need to measure my garage door or anything? It's only a single garage door.

Does this come with the inside button to open the door?

Is there anything that I really need to know before I order this 'cause if I buy the wrong thing I'll seriously never hear the end of it..
thanks

One issue with these Chamberlain openers is that the lens covers tend to flop down.
No fix from Chamberlain short of a design change.
But no big thing: just put a small duct tape tab to hold it up. I used a hair drier to soften and bend the plastic lens cover so it clips more firmly to the drive unit. Good luck.

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 67 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice opener Great price via the Deal of the Day and home delivery. Like the sensor that turns light on as someone walks near - helpful in a dark garage. Took a point off because the lens covers do not stay up - design flaw. Had to put small tape to hold in place. Other than that, works well, looks fine. March 4, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great and is super quiet. Easy to install even in below zero cold. Adjustments are easily accessible. We have two openers side by side. One for the front garage door and one for the rear garage door. Had to remove the light cover to allow them to fit together. Would recommend to a friend. February 25, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A terrific Product. A great product. Easy to install and operate. Works well and runs quitely. March 16, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quiet and powerful I purchased this online to automate the garage door to the shop. The shop has an 8' tall aluminum garage door, and as expected the 3/4HP motor is more power than probably needed. However at the sale price this opener was close to the price of the standard 1/2HP model. It is also whisper quiet compared to the 2 Liftmasters (made by Chamberlain) in our double garage. My only caution is that this product comes with 7' of rail, so if you want an 8' tall door to go all the way up you have to order a rail extension separately. Since this was for a shop and not to drive a vehicle in, I didn't care. March 25, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ease of installation Shipping was fast, UPS delivered to my neighbor’s house for some reason? Found the installation easy, very quiet. Programming to the built in button on the car was easy except sometimes doesn't activate right away. One of the lens cover to the lights doesn’t stay on. I was told to bend the plastic lens and see if that works. The angle iron that is provided isn’t what is shown in the instruction manual to support opener to angle iron on ceiling. I purchased the MYQ controller and downloaded the app for it so now we know if we left the door open and can close it remotely. March 18, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Not a bad deal...great salesman at Home Depot I am not a huge fan of chamberlain; however, this one is decent. Buyer Beware: If you are like me and have two garages with two separate openers please note that Chamberlain has two frequency's for their clickers. If you have an older opener and then buy a second, newer one with smart phone tech, your clicker may not work. They make a clicker that will work for both units, but it's sold separately and costs an additional $35.00 per clicker. Chamberlain was unwilling to trade in the clickers so I had to order an older unit to get the job done, = 2 week delay. February 18, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A great replacement for an old opener. It took about three hours to remove an old opener and install the Chamberlain. It is not easy, but directions were good. One just has to keep going step by step. The opener works just fine and very few adjustments were needed beyond the factory installed settings. I'm very pleased with its performance. It's safety setting already saved my dog! Shipping was excellent and it arrived on the scheduled day. Now I'm wondering why I didn't get a second one to replace my other opener! March 19, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Value This door opener is a great value for all the bells and whistles it comes with. It does its intended job perfectly and didn't take me too long to install by myself, very clear instructions. I love that it includes a motion sensor to turn on the lights for you and has the added bonus of securely locking down when you're on vacation, just by simply pressing a button. The ease of use is fantastic. March 11, 2014
