Not much to say. It replaces the end piece of the existing track to accommodate the extra height of the door.

This addition to the base opener kit was easy to install and works great. A must have for 8ft doors.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by hawk Decent product
This kit to switch from a 7 ft garage door to an 8 ft garage door. It should come with the wider plastic pulley to fit the new wider plastic belt system that replaces the old chain and pulley system. I had to buy them seperatly on Amazon. I wish the company would look at this review and realize I would spwnd a few dollars more to have it work properly. The plastic pulley that comes with the original kit is for a wire that is used to move the door that is not used when you switch to he 8' door system. Using that pulley created slippage and the new belt would come off that pulley. If you follow the directions like k did, it did go together easily (2 hours total time ). I had never done a garage door opener system before and was surprised at the ease. Instructions were decent to follow. Please add the proper plastic pulley to the box for future orders.

The 8 ' extension
is multiple pieces attached together. The end result is that it is not rigid and oscillates up & down as the door is traveling (especially when it starts). I had (and still have on my other door) a solid piece aluminum extension; it is completely steady. The motion of the multi-piece extension can't be as good for the opener as the steady one.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Dave Chamberlain rail extension kit
I was disappointed with Chamberlain because the door opener was not clearly marked as a 7' or 8' door. Had I known it wasn't for an 8' door I would have clearly looked for one that was. As it turned out it was for a 7' door and only in a small space in the instructions did it mention that. It did list a rail extension kit on the accessories page. Now, I'm not a door installation expert so I don't know what a 'rail extension kit' is for. But after calling customer service and speaking with a representative of Chamberlain and her explaining that it is to make my rail fit my door, dummy! She did tell me where it said the size also. Anyway, after installing the rail and opener I got to take it all down, add the kit, throw away the original belt and metal header bar and spring tensioner, then put it back up and it works great. So this is no fault of Home Depot but Chamberlain in my opinion. The kit was an easy install, instructions were clear and it works. I figure the belt was the most expensive part of the kit and I threw away a brand new one as I would have no further use for it. The only reason I would recommend this to someone else is because I'm sure that there are more 'dummies' out there like me. Thank you for your time.

Just a box of subs tire parts. I don't understand why you have to pay $45 extra. Why not sell the opener in different lengths?
