Frequently Bought Together

Product Overview

Safety sensor alignment is one of the top reasons why a garage door will not close. When safety sensors are knocked or damaged, the laser beams stop communicating and triggers the door to reverse. Tough cover keeps safety sensors aligned and protected.

  • Prevents misalignment from trash cans, children and pets
  • Shields wires from animals and corrosion
  • Fits all major garage door opener brands
  • Mounts directly to the door track, frame or floor
  • 3-Easy steps to install and hardware included
  • Easily removed and reattached as needed

It would stand to reason that this item somes as a set of 2, but it is not clear from the advertisement whether this is the case. Please clarify. Thanks

Yes there are 2 covers in the box. I agree the description is confusing. I also thought I was only going to get 1 and that's all I really needed, but 2 came in the box.

Bill,
Thank you for your question. The TC1000 garage door opener safety sensor cover does come as a set. It includes 2 covers, 1 for the left and 1 for the right side of the garage.

Sunlight?

My current Marantec garage door opener has 'cheap' sensors, and for the past 10 years I've had issues with the sunlight 'interrupting' the beam from the sensors throughout the fall, and winter months. No matter how many times I've tried to adjust them - the sun keeps the garage door opener from closing thus I need to do it manually, and then re-engage the chain/door.

I'm looking at replacing my garage door opener with a Chamberlain product, and was wondering will this cover reduce the amount of sunlight that may interrupt the sensor beam?

Answer:
Hello Freddy, and thank you for your question. This cover may provide some shading to prevent the effects of direct sunlight on the sensors, but its primary function is to protect against misalignment due to bumping the sensors themselves.

Door will not open or close. No light on green side , amber side fine. Realigned and still no green light. Measured voltage going to green light got 6.4. VDC across wires. What should the resistance (ohms) read when I disconnect green sensor and read Ohms? I get infinite open. Could it be just the LED bulb broken? Can this be repaired, do I need to relace both green and yellow sensors? Thank you in advance.

When this happens, the garage door opener will still open and close when the hardwired button inside the garage is used, but the hand held remote controls are temporarily disabled.
To disengage the lock feature, find the button labelled "Lock" on the hardwired button inside the garage - where you see the flashing light. Press and hold the Lock button until the flashing stops. This generally takes about two seconds. Once the flashing stops, your remote controls will begin working again without any need to reprogram them. Read Less

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just what I needed Modified it slightly to fit a different brand sensor. Stopped the non opening problem . September 8, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very good protection Have you ever come home at night to a non-working garage door? Not fun. If you hire others to do work for you (in my case, a neighborhood high schooler mows my lawn), it is prudent to buy and install this product, which covers the safety sensors so they are less likely to be knocked out of alignment. However, be advised that this attaches to the wall, not to the garage door tracks. Accordingly, in a modern home, you are likely to have to drill into concrete and place anchors to secure these covers. June 30, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by It lives up to its name I would have given this product 5 stars had it not been for the modifications i had to do to it to get it to fit 100%. I did have to trim a few edges to get them straight due to the location of my sensors. I thought about moving the sensors up to get a better fit, but then they are mounted on plates that are attached to the rail, and moving them any higher would defeat the purpose. Would be nice if there were break-away tabs to get a better fitment, but it would be impossible to be able to forsee every possible install situation. Anyway, a pair of shears will be needed if you need to cut them or even a dremel tool, so you need to have some mechanical know how to get these attached and fitted 100% Once on though, they do their job! It solved my problem with the garbage cans and garden hose hitting the sensors. Also, they do look nice and i suppose you could paint them if necessary. March 30, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A good idea, but it didn't fit I had to return the product because it didn't fit my garage installation. It was a good idea, but it would have been better if it had fit my particular installation. Also, metal would have been a better material than plastic. April 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by There are two! There is nothing I saw in the write up that there were 2 sensor covers, and based on the price I assumed there was only one. Pleasant surprise and will be returning the extra one. While the sensors are a necessary evil, they are a pain if your garage space is tight (mine is), and people keep on knocking into them and setting off the alignment. These covers fit the bill. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Way too larger These are much bigger than I anticipated and I am now returning them. April 29, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by saved my sensors many times Works flawlessly and protects my sensors from rain sun and abuse. Love them. September 8, 2013
