Do I need a sensor for each car in a two-car garage?

Yes - single laser. Installing two is no big deal.

How far away from the garage door opener can this be mounted?

How far away from the garage door opener can this be mounted? i.e. What is the length of the wire on the laser parking assist? Our vehicles park well past the garage door opener. If the wires are too short, the angle of the laser will make it unable to point into the windshield and onto the dashboard.
Asked by: Anonymous
you have about 6 ft of wire but same wire as eye sensors so you may be able to extend

I was very excited to finally have a laser activated garage parking system for my wife as she would sometimes not park far enough into the garage and the door would hit the rear end of the car when closing. Well I am sad to say that this product failed miserably. The laser is VERY weak, is VERY difficult to see, I almost thought the product was defective until I read other reviews. Shame on me for not reading the reviews before I purchased this item. My wife and I could barely see the laser, and in no time she wasn't even looking for it anymore as it was impossible to see anyway. Install was very easy, that is the only plus.

The product is everything it says it is, the price is ok, and the installation was rather simple. However the light output is insufficient for our partially lit garage and the dark color (charcoal) of our vehicle and the black dash mat in it. The blinking spot of light is very, very difficult to see so we' back to square one using a visual spot on the garage sidewall as a reference when parking.

The product is a little finicky to install and adjust if your garage is finished. The beam is very small and you have to watch carefully for it. You must drive slowly or you can pass the beam between blinks. After you get used to these limitations it is very useful.

I had just installed a new Chamberlain Garage Door Opener and the wireing was easy. I put in two units, one for each side of the garage. If I had a recommendation, I would suggest they be a little brighter. When you drive in the garage on a bright sunny day, you really have to watch for the "red dot". Otherwise it is great. You know you are in the garage and clear of the door without taking up too much rum in the front of the garage.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I actually needed this item to line up my entry... I actually needed this item to line up my entry into a tight garage parking space. The laser just isn't bright enough to effectively shine through the window at a sharp angle and be seen on my dash. If you're using it to find the ideal spot to stop in your garage, it will work as promised. I have several other dog/cat toy lasers that put out a much brighter light; this one is faint compared to those.

That said, you will need to position your vehicle using other fixed elements in the garage and when you approach your stop position, the laser will be seen approaching the target. I can see the laser on the dash but not on the hood.

My new car is a tight fit in the garage and I was getting sick of getting out of the car and walking around the back to see if I pulled in far enough and still leaving enough room to walk around the front. It is a pain to aim it though but you only have to do it once so no big deal.

Small beam, can easily be seen if your garage is not brightly lit. Once you set up where you point the beam (somewhere on top of dash ) it helps you park in tight spot.
