Customer Questions & Answers

Can more than one SmartPhone use the app/program to open/close the door?

I don't care if the alerts only go to one email address/account. I need to know if my kids can also open/close the door with their SmartPhones? I would think yes, but since my wireless keypad & remotes don't work, I need to make sure we ALL have a way in. I know there is a MyQ compatible keypad and may invest in this if multiple SmartPhones can't control the door.
My wife daughter and I , could use our phones, until they changed the app. My wife and daughter had older phones. When my wife had to update her phone, the app would no longer work with her phone. I texted and emailed for support. They didn't respond. Several months ago.

Can I still the existing remote in addition to the iphone app?

Hello, If I don't have iPhone on hand, can I still use the existing garage door( a Craftsman 1/2 HP model) remote to open/close the door? There is the key pad on the garage I use to manually open/close the door. -Will both these options be available or is it with iPhone only ? -Will it work with Craftsman 1/2 HP ? Thanks!

Does this work with iphone, android....both?

I have an iphone, but my husband has an Android. Will we both be able to use it on either phone?
Asked by: CoolMom
The box and all of the setup instructions are primarily based on iPhone. I am using an Android based Samsung Note 4, and I had no problems setting it up. Based on my experience, and other reviews, you both should be able to use the same login and password on both phones without any issues.

MyQ Universal Smartphone Garage Door Controller is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 245.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Be Prepared Bought this August 17, 2016 . Today is May 27, 2017 and I am retuning it. Three times this has gone offline. Two times in the past I have been able to restore connection. For two days now I have messed with this and will no longer give it the patience I generally give such inanimate objects. Fortunately, I purchased the additional replace return warranty from where I bought this monster. Tired of being at the mercy of this electronic mess. And it is not my wifi or internet connection. Everything else works that is connected to it.

I had been looking at competitive products and found that for my configuration this was the easiest setup. I easily installed the door sensor -- it is battery operated so you will need to change batteries eventually as opposed to a wired sensor. While the hub ended up on the ceiling above the garage door opener, much of the setup was done on the hood of my truck. The hub connects to the garage door opener through radio, the same way a new garage door opener would. For me, the hardest part about this was remembering how to set the opener to program/learn mode. Once paired, we were off. While there are new products on the way to connect the hub to Apple's HomeKit, the solution is a couple of months away.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Most difficult setup ever. I'm technically savy user and have no problem setting up products. This was by far the most difficult setup, as it took me several hours to set it up the first time. After not working for awhile, I tried to set it up again a second time and after two hours of trying to do everything to figure it out, I could not get it to work correctly. I've never been so frustrated trying to bang my head against the wall in my life.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not at all Horrible I have a chamberlain garage door opener that was manufactured in 2011 I tried the My Q, and everything went fine until I was asked to enter the My Q serial number Each time I tried it said it was an invalid number Double checked and tried it 10 times Same result Called support line. They said to exchange unit. Which it did Also bought the My Q Gateway per salesperson Same exact result when I got to the step asking for serial number !!! I boxed them all up and took it all back for a refund What a pain !!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Did not work I bought the Chamberlain MyQ Universal Smartphone Garage Door Controller in Febuary 2017. After I unboxed the Chamberlain MyQ Universal Smartphone Garage Door Controller, it did not work. After further investigation, I found out that this unit had been on Homedepot's shelf since 2014. This unit was 3 years old right out the box. Talked with Chamberlain for hours and they could not get it to connect either. Really disappointed that Homedepot's sold me a 3 year old unit.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Basically good but should do more I've had the MyQ for our Lift Master unit for nearly a year and it's worked quite reliably. It's activated when requested, restarted automatically after power failures, and provided alerts when open for set periods. For that, it performs as it should. What I do have issue with is the lack of features promoted but missing: Scheduled closings, HomeKit integration. For the price paid for MyQ, the lack of these features make this a highly overpriced gimmick. A webcam can show me anywhere, anytime is my door is open with the benefit of seeing if someone's there. And waiting an extra 10 seconds for my typical car remote to open the garage is not worth $130 to me. So it's a good remote garage opener, and It's nice to open/close anytime, anywhere w/ MyQ app. Without the scheduling and HomeKit features however, it's just too much money for too little control.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great for me with no issues I like how the product works with no issue. I have one hub and two garage doors with individual sensors and everything works great. Recommend this item if you just want the peace and mind over your garage system. I don't have my hub on the ceiling. I placed mines on the back wall of the garage in the middle of the two doors.
