I have just added another level of security to my home with this product. There are a few pieces to set up but it did not take me long. I found the set up to be easy and I was online in no time. The directions are easy to follow with great pictures to help out. I secured the door sensor right to my garage door. The Wi-Fi hub connected easily to an area next to my garage door opener. I downloaded the free app to my phone, answered a couple question and then I was all set up. As you can see in my pictures when I would open and close my garage door it would show up clearly on my phone. I needed this product to check for my self that I did close the garage door, when I leave the house. I tried it up and down for a few days and it continued to work great for me. The app and service is free, which is an added bonus. I have an older garage opener and mine worked fine. It does recommend usage with garage door openers newer then 1993. I would recommend this product and I am enjoying the added security to my home.

I bought and installed this product so I can monitor the state of the door from anywhere and be able to open the door if I forget my key. This product fails on both counts. I have the iPhone app to notify me if the door is open. That works, but I also get many false alarms. Once I was out of town and got a notification that my door was open. I commanded it closed and open it instead and was not able to access the system until somebody showed up and closed my door and reset the unit.
Today I forgot my keys and got locked out of my house and lo and behold, the MyQ was not accessible no matter how many times I tried. I'm very sorry I bought this product and would not recommend it to anyone.

My wife got me this for Christmas, I was excited, I love gadgets. Installation and connection to my WiFi was a breeze. Connected the unit to my phone and downloaded multiple firmware updates, after all the downloads I tried it out and the door opened and closed just fine.
I set up my phone app to alert me if my door was left open for more than 5 minutes. . . .well evidently the system thought my door was open any time I walked into my garage with my phone. Yesterday I never opened my garage door once, but was in and out of the garage multiple times during the day, and seemed like every time i was in there I'd get an alert that the door was open, even though it was not.
I tried resetting multiple times but still had same issue, seems to be a common issue with many reviews I have read online.
Seemed like a great idea but returning due to all the false alarms, since that was the main reason for buying the unit.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ThatGuy Easy install... it does most of the work.
I am the person who leaves the house and then questions myself if i put the door down and then has to drive back home or it drives me crazy. No more of that. This thing was so easy to install. The worst part was having to drag out my ladder for a couple of minutes of work. Once the unit was installed and the door sensor was placed I was able to synch my phone which then took me through step by step instructions to allow it to synch to the system. Nothing could be simpler.

This was pretty easy to assemble. All you need is a ladder and a screwdriver. The instructions are pretty straightforward and do a good job of showing you where to install the two components. You set the garage door opener up with your WiFi through your phone. The opener emits a WiFi signal and you connect to it through your phone. From there, you set up the opener to connect to your home WiFi network. From there, you add the device to your app and from there you can close it. I have a LiftMaster garage door opener and this Chamberlain product was compatible with it. It tells you by the color of the program button on the garage door opener itself so make sure you check online first. Follow the instructions on the app and it's very simple. It's set up in no time. It takes about 20-30 seconds for the garage door to close from the time you tell it to close. I've had it once so far where I was looking at my closed garage door then looking at my app and the app showed that my garage door was open. Obviously, that was a spurious reading but I exited out and opened again and it said my door has been closed for 24 minutes or whatever it was. Overall, it's a pretty cool system and I like the wide compatibility it seems to have. I'd recommend this to anyone and it hasn't given me any reason to give it less than 4 stars. I detracted a star simply because of the fake reading I had. I hope more of those don't come about but so far 90% of the time it's been right. 100% of the time I've opened or closed my garage door through the app it has done what I told it to do so there's that.

A 10minute quick instal, approx 5 minutes waiting on Firmware update (via Bluetooth connection), and 3 minutes walking through the set up process......Works great! The door sensor contains a standard 3 volt coin style battery(included) & can be mounted with screws or double back tape. The control box emits a beeping sound when an open/close command is received using the app, sounds like a loud back up beeper, which should-a could-a been installed with a on/off switch. I purchased this item because of it's 'universal' ability to work with most garage door openers. I did have a programing error when teaching the garage door to link with control box. I first selected 'craftsman' for my model on the first attempt, then selected 'Sears' on the second attempt and connected instantly. All of the programing and set up is completed trough their free app. My value is in the "push notifications" or email alerts it sends when the door is opened or closed, I store my toys and equipment in the garage so it would be a security issue or peace of mind knowing. As for the price......too much $$$$ but the app is free and they don't charge a service or member ship fee.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DIYer Excellent Idea and easy to install
Worried about existing remotes in teenagers cars at night and intruders possibly getting in through garage. Installed Chamberlain device and installed app on everyone's phone (6 phones) . Super easy installation, just followed directions. Have late 90s Craftsman garage door opener and it connected no problem. Only downside is that existing remotes now become obsolete. Opening garage door now done with Iphones. Anxious to also try light devices. App on Iphone is password protected, so if phone is lost app will not open without 4 digit code I setup.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Salmonlady VERY useful to me!
i use this because i keep my bike in the garage and take frequent bike rides (eg 3-5 days/week). in order to open and close the door previous to this purchase and installation, i had a separate 'key fob' which i had to remember to take with me. i always have my phone with me, so no need for another gizmo.
I have also found the app is handy if I happen to go out of another door in my house and then realize i want to enter the garage, as i do not have to go back in the house to get into the garage (as long as i have my phone with me).
i have had it installed for about 30 days. on only one occasion did it not perform properly..the app seemed to be 'offline', for some reason. my handyman and I installed it with a minimum of effort.
