Not hard if you are mechanically inclined. Unless you are accustomed to making things with wood and metal I would seek help or get a professional. A bad job of hanging a door drive could result in it falling or causing damage to the door.

The sensors worked for mine but the wall mounted switch didn't when I replaced my Craftsman with this unit. The control module that comes with it was a good upgrade from my old switch anyway.

I'm not sure about your Craftsman items, but I had to change all my Genie Pro sensors & keyless entry pad. If you read in the installation instruction you may find the answer. Good luck.

I can't directly answer this question as I didn't replace that brand. I was tempted to do as your question suggests - but didn't. I can say however that you will be much better off replacing all of the periphial devices. Otherwise you might not have all features of the system available even if the old stuff works OK.

Hi Dutch nephew, thank you for your question. The PD210D is designed for a 7' door, however with the added accessory model 7708CB you can extend the operator rail and chain system to 8'.

Power Drive 1/2 HP Chain Drive Garage Door Opener Access System is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 103.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super opener at a fine price point Bought four of these openers for my barn doors. Three doors are 10 feet high and one is 8 feet high. Bought the extension kits to accomodate the higher door height. These openers are powerful and very quiet. Had a Chamberlain Liftmaster Professional series installed on one door and it is much noisier and rough. This opener works better than the professionally installed Liftmaster and is quieter and A LOT CHEAPER. It is a great deal. The extension kits should include additional bell wire which you will need to buy if your door is higher than 8 feet. Also you'll need additional length hanging brackets for higher ceilings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install and very quiet running. My existing door opener bit the dust after 25 years. Went on line looking for the least expensive name brand opener I could find to replace it with. This fit the bill perfectly. Since it was a retrofit project it only took 2 hours to install. You will need a second person to get the unit up into position. Its light but bulky I had my wife help on one end. The snap together steel track is a plus. Runs very quietly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really Good So Far This is a great product so far. The real test for the quality and value is time; it should last at least a couple years without any issues and we have only had it up for a few months. So far it works great and is very quiet. It was pretty easy to install. Just keep in mind I think instructions are used for several models so illustrations etc sometimes not great. We had to do a temporary repair of our ceiling to install ours but I think actual install of just the door opener took about what most people say at about 4 hours.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well I bought this to replace one of the another Chamberlains which got fried from power surge. Everything works as expected except that I cannot get it to link to my car. I know this ahead of time because my old one won't link even after calling the company. I still bought it because 1/ I want it brand match with the other one, 2/ the old hardware is already there & I'm doing the swapping myself and don't want to tweak the old hardware. I would give it a 5 STARS if the product would link to my car, which works with my other house with Genie.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Built Quality, Easy to Assemble and Install. I assembled this unit all by myself and found out it's easy to assemble and easy to install. The only bad experience I encountered was using the supplied staples to fix the sensor and control panel wires on ceiling and wall. DON'T USE the supplied staples, use the staple gun instead. My friend helped me to connect the power line, aligned the sensor and ran the test. Everything went smoothly. I feel the built quality is very good (compares to the previous Craftsman unit), it also runs much more quiet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy retro fit ! I am very pleased with this unit. I went from and older 1/3 h.p.to the 1/2 h.p. I was expecting some problems but it was a snap. I had to make just a few minor adjustments to the door travel but the easy access to travel controls on the side of assembly were a breeze. If I had to say anything to improve this package would be to have two (2) remote controls. Great value! My friend Ron from VFW that helped me install this unit was so impressed that he is getting one also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install This is a great purchase. Very easy to install. It has plenty of power and runs very smooth.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth it for price Was very easy to install. My only experience in doing odds and ends around the house comes from watching Youtube videos, and I was able to install this garage door opener easily with the assistance of youtube and the instruction manual. Works quite well. Quieter than my last model. My only complaint is the garage door remote control. Has very limited range, and came with a dead battery.
