No 953D available locally and I don't see one online. Tried a 953EV-P in multiple program modes, could not get it to work - should it? If not where do I get a 953D?

Answer:
I apologize that you are having a problem getting the 953EV-P to program. They program differently than the 953D. Here are the instructions to program to the 955. 1. Take the visor clip off and use the clip to press the program button on the back of the remote until the LED light on the front of the remote turns on
2. Press and release the learn button on the receiver.
3. Press and release the remote

Answer:
Hi MKS - Our universal receiver is compatible to garage door openers with a two terminal connection for the push button door control. It needs to connect to the common and command terminals. If you have this on your opener then this receiver will work with your Allister.

Answer:
If the opener has contacts that can be used with an ordinary doorbell button (e.g. mounted on the wall next to an interior door) then it should work. The device just provides a contact closure similar to someone pushing the doorbell button. You'll have to look at the existing opener wiring or user guide to see which terminal to connect the device's receiver to.

Answer:
I don't see any reason why it would not. It provides a "dry contact" electrical contact closure only, and plugs in, separately, to a non-switched wall outlet. You then wire the device to the terminals on your opener that would normally be connected to a doorbell type wall button. Essentially, all it does is push the door bell button when you wish the button in your car.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 52 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Receiver replacement This is great substitute for replacing a garage door opener or its board as long as the button that opens the door still works. this receiver connects to the same poles and fixes the issue of the remotes talking to the garage door opener. one issue: when programming other remotes (including keyless entry) you might have to call their support to get programming instructions (not hard) since instructions for those remotes refer to the garage door openers and not this replacement receiver. excellent customer service and with their help the receiver works great with all my remotes. this was a much better solution than replacing the old garage door opener or its main circuit board. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by I read the reviews and bought anyway. Big disappointment. Easy to install, worked with my homelink, but if I am outside of my garage with the door shut it doesn't work. The distance sucks. I don't know what Chamberlain is thinking. Really disappointing. October 25, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good transmitter fix When our garage remotes stopped working we got a $175 quote to have the problem fixed. My husband installed this instead. Now we can open the garage! The only thing I would change is for it to have a longer range. I usually need to be In the driveway before it will open the garage. Easy to install October 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by It works exactly as described This kit is plug-and-play, that easy to install and it works right away. I was hoping as a bonus it would work with my car's HomeLink and it did, which i'm really happy about. It has a short range but that's easily fixable by extending the antenna purple wire that's sticking out of it. October 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Really works! Works fine. I thought I would need to remove some part of the old system in order to make this work. You don't. So this installs very easily and quickly. I read where some people might have some trouble with distance. That was not a problem. This opens our garage door from as far or farther than the original. October 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Turned my 1992 opener into a smart opener This is the best product ever! Works great. Easy to install. Great customer service. October 11, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not Too Good This item had no range. I would have to get out of my car and stand in front of the garage door for it to work. Reviews were mixed on this item. Some people had no range issues while others did. YMMV. October 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Old Garage door opener This unit was installed and working in less than 5 minutes. The garage door worked as it should. No range problem with the remote August 17, 2016
