installed 955 - works fine. Need another opener. a 953D is specified. Should a 953 EV-P work?

No 953D available locally and I don't see one online. Tried a 953EV-P in multiple program modes, could not get it to work - should it? If not where do I get a 953D?
Asked by: MikeS
the 953ev-p is a chamberlain universal R. Control good for units made for 1993 and after LIFT MASTER, CRAFSTMAN AND CHAMBERLAIN ) if it doesn't work for you, you may have a damage unit. the 953D is a REPLACEMENT KIT and it needs to be install the whale kit. you can buy it on HOMEDEPOT on line

Will this work with an allister IIA opener?

Just bought a new house and it has allister IIA garage door openers. Will this work with them?
Asked by: MKS
Hi MKS - Our universal receiver is compatible to garage door openers with a two terminal connection for the push button door control. It needs to connect to the common and command terminals. If you have this on your opener then this receiver will work with your Allister.

Is this compatible with my 2006 Liftmaster?

Asked by: Michael
Hello Michael - This receiver works with any Chamberlain or LiftMaster garage door opener with a green, red or purple learn button. The learn button is located right above the hanging antenna wire on the motor head.

Customer Reviews

Universal Radio Control Replacement Kit is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 64.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Reception Only works if you are already standing inside the garage. I closed the door and tried to open it from the outside and it would not work. What good is that? Also I assumed that this device would work with the buttons on the visor of my car but it would not program. If this device only works with your remotes it should have been noted on the package. Disappointed. Taking it back to the store.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Piece of Junk If it programs, it only works once or twice. It's hit and miss whether it will program or not. I fell for the joke twice. The first one worked for about 7 months, the one I purchased and installed today does basically nothing. Save your time and money.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Weak receiver Good concept, but receiver is very weak. Remote can activate adjacent liftmaster door from 1/2 block away, but receiver on 955d only picks up signal within 15 feet or less. Disappointed in that aspect.

Installation is simple, just plug and wire to the opener screws where manual pushbutton ends. I was able to set one of the car's buttons to open the garage door. This works much better than he remote clicker in opening the door from inside the car. The controller is plugged on the receptacle provided for the opener on the 8 ft. garage ceiling. I've tried on wall locations with no improvement. I called the factory but I gave up after waiting too long.

Installed it about a month ago, and it still works good on my old opener that I couldn't use a universal remote with. Distance seems a bit short, have to drive fairly close up to the door for it to work, but that isn't such a big deal to me as long as it does its job.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Too Good This item had no range. I would have to get out of my car and stand in front of the garage door for it to work. Reviews were mixed on this item. Some people had no range issues while others did. YMMV.

If I'm not pointing the remote towards the location of the receiving unit, or if I don't close the garage door while I'm still under my garage door (my vehicle partially out since I don't have the sensors on the bottom to detect if any objects are located under the garage door) It doesn't work. It is annoying to press the button more than once to either open or close the garage door.
