Answer:
Unit is about as fast as the Liftmaster chain drive it replaced. Probably takes4 to 5 seconds to open a 9' X 7' single wooden door. Might be the same time as the old drive, but MUCH quieter than before. Well worth the weight.

Our unit was past its prime too. I'm sold on the belt drive, it's nice and quiet and speedier than our old, clunky belt drive.

I find this opener to be at least as fast as my old screw drive Chamberlain, which is plenty fast for me. Mine opens and closes a double aluminum door in about 6 seconds.

I just timed it for you. [I have the 8 foot accessory. Reduce times by 12% if you'll be using the "out-of-the-box" 7-foot lift.]
The door opens in 12 seconds and closes in 17 ... it closes slower because of the "soft close" feature.

This unit is MUCH quieter than the chain drive we just replaced. Our kitchen is above the garage, so you could feel the previous opener work. Now, it's a distant whisper. Much nicer.

The unit itself is very quiet. There is always a bit of noise associated with the door because of the sound the rollers make when it's in motion.

I have a home office above my garage and I'd say this opener is a lot quieter than the chain-driven one it replaced and the screw drive one that I still have in the second bay. It's definitely quieter than our washing machine, if that helps.

I found it to be very quiet. We had a garage door opener under our game room theater, and you could hear/feel it. This one is not under a room (we now just have a one story) but I was surprised at how quiet it is. It is not silent, but on a scale of 1-10, I'd call it a 3. Our older unit was about an 8.

Answer:
No it is not a battery backup door opener. In a power failure, you pull the cord to disengage the unit, then open the door manually.
One reply says it comes with battery. They are talking about the remote. The opener dose not operate with a battery.

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 385 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Happy PROs: Assembly and Install were pretty straight forward. The unit is very quite and smooth. It comes with two remotes and a wireless, Keyless, entry keypad to mount outside, all are pre-programed and have batteries installed, ready to go. *The remotes bought separately would be over $100. The control pad has many functions, operate the door, motion detector light switch, automatic close options. CONs: Instructions do need to be clearer, illustrations are low in detail. ie; dose not show or tell what side is up when installing the rail. You should go to YouTube and watch the video first, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5kPdnSEdLI July 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great opener, great technology I installed this for a single bay door on our 3-car garage. I did 98 % of the installation by myself, so it's possible to install it alone but would have gone much faster with another set of hands. The ability to check if the for is opened, as well as one or close it, is great. You can customize a lot of the options, like the motion detection, how long the light stays on, and whether or not the light turns on when you cross the beam. Adjusting the belt tension was very easy, and it's a very quiet system. July 16, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install garage door I was replacing an 18 year old Chamberlain whisper drive that had a bad circuit board. In all those years the only problem was a broken gear so I figured it was time for new. The installation process was easy and appreciated all of the remotes being factory linked right out of the box.The only problem for me was getting the door to reverse with the 2x4 board on the floor. I did not like having to adjust the door travel past the closed point to put enough force on the board to reverse. July 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Buy and install of new Garage Opener After searching this was the best place to get the opener. Had Home Depot's partner install it and can't complain. I had to read the instructions on how the wall button with sensor worked as it was not turning on automatically when I walked into the garage. Just an on/off switch. Ease of installation means he just replaced my old one :) Thank you!! July 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product Very happy w my purchase. Home Depot installed it and it seemed to go smoothly. It is quiet. July 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works Great I purchased 2 of these units to replace outdated failed screw drives. The instructions were good but the installation took longer than expected because I had to relocate the ceiling support structure for the drive motors. I thought the wiring for the safety light beam looked fragile and could be damaged by material stored on the floor or sweeping. Therefore, I drilled a 5/16" hole in the side of a spray can cap and installed it using the wing nut on the safety beam assembly. You can still see the green and yellow lights on the safety beam units. See picture below.. January 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Product Very nice opener, quiet as advertised. installation instructions we a bit difficult to follow but overall ok. March 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great garage door opener Quiet and smooth. My husband installed in a little less than 3 hours. Installation went well; if you follow instructions then it should be without any problems. It helps to have help, but he installed it by himself. I can't say how easy it is to install because he is very handy and does everything around the house from plumbing to electrical. What I like the most, is the motion sensor light and how quiet it is. We have a room above the garage and you can't even hear when the door opens as with our previous one. July 5, 2016
